I'm looking for a good hospital in Bangkok to get an extensive medical.I've used Bumrungrad in the past and found it good if overpriced. After trying several times to book an appointment with no reply does anyone know of another hospital of similar standard?

Many thanks

Good to remind me. Last did a few years ago in Bangkok Hospital at Soi Soonvijai (off Petchaburi Road) Just had walked out of Praram 9 where all doctors were changed and arrived around 11:00 am at BKK Hospital. Quick service, showed me all the 'menu', what they are doing, men Baht 11,000 woman +2000. Seems for mamography need extra.

Late afternoon all was done incl. some 20 min discussion with another doctor eplaining the findings in detail.

Samitivej, on Sukhumvit soi 49 (at the junction of Thong Lo's soi 13) will suit you well. They're considered the second best hospital, or, on par with Bumrungrad [depending on who you speak with]. Samitivej Wellness Center normally has several packaged options for complete physicals. I did one recently and was very pleased with all aspects of the exam.

You might also consider BNH (Bangkok Nursing Home) on Soi Convent, off Silom. This hospital is very modern and well equiped and the doctors all speak English. It is owned by the same company that owns Samitivei but is somewhat less expensive. I switched from Bumrungrad about 3 years ago and glad I did.

for bnh there are 2 recent topics which were not so good, it seems they changed a lot.

Yes, I've seen those. I still stick with my recommendation, however. In the 3 years or so I've been going there, I have only good experiences, no complaints. I see a doctor regularly (I'm diabetic) and I've seen some specialists. I've also had a couple of minor surgeries and a colonoscopy.

I don't buy my medicines there; I believe all hospitals charge too much for prescriptions. My doctor knows this and hasn't objected. However, the doctor's fee, etc. have never been excessive, not do they suggest costly tests or treatments.

A typical visit, including blood tests, is usually less than 2,000 Baht.

I've had very good luck with Vejthani, having seen them for a colonoscopy, a snoring problem and an eye check up. First rate staff and very attentive to farangs.

Bamrungrad, Bangkok Hospital and Samitivej -> overpriced ***holes, should avoid at any cost, only if you use $$$ as a toilet paper and live nearby.

The S**t list followed by R9 Hospital - more attention to customer money than customers' health.

BHN and StLouis are getting better, although StL is still outsider

Phayathai and Piavatee - nice pack of budget balanced hospitals, when the last one positiones as Mislim Health Center, with all features - discipline, manners, attention.

The Top Ten "Value for Money " are Chula and Victory Monument Hospitals - the most popular and really great doctors. Say it, when patient is not rich to afford fancy drugs it's up to the doctor to find a cure. Figures...

China Town - Hua Cheaow - the Second Best.

Traditional Chinese Medicine with doctor checkup and herbs - the Third Place

Another vote for Samitivej.

I've been to most of the main hosps here, it's the only one where the doctor actually looks at and thinks about the test results in any depth. At Bumrungrad it looks very nice and you get a fancy report but the analysis is worthless. Ignores your history and often glosses over things that should actually be followed up.
