Hi, thanks for your reply. I had thought about a rat snake too by looking at some pictures on the net. I hope it is.

Unfortunately last time I sent a picture to thailandsnakes I didn't get a reply.

Any other opinion most welcome :)

Ya gotta pester em a lot sometimes as they get quite busy!

also...you can register your email and download their snake

guide for free. It's worth it. Being non-venomous the rat snake

or Malayan Racer can still give you a nasty bite and if this

ever happens you should go to hospital and have it looked at

then the staf will usually give you 2 jabs...one tetanus & the other

antibiotic...the latter may also be a bag of pills..remember to take

em all. Better to leave the snake alone anyway as the rat snakes

& Mal Racer love to eat vermin!

The dark banding on the back end & the large eye, in your pic OP, tells me instantly that It's an Oriental Rat Snake (Ptyas mucosus). Harmless venom wise, but they will bite if prod them too much.

Take a look at this one, but don't try at home (unless you're an experienced handler .wink.png) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scEoS1xlji0

Thanks very much both of you for your replies. I won't try to handle it, don't worry!! biggrin.png We used to have a rodent problem (car wires being eaten), but it hasn't happened for some time, now I know why.
