greenchair
Let's hypothetically say that it was the Headmans son who did this? Usually murderers are repeat offenders. He cannot possibly try to murder someone again because that would definitely nail the coffin in Koh Toa's tourist industry and ruin his dad's business and lose all their money. But most importantly, why have we not heard anything from the other son or about the son? We've heard about Warot but what about the other one??? I've seen Waruts Facebook. He looks like a arrogant little idiot. Thai food is my favourite cuisine and visiting there was in my bucket list. It has now been crossed off, and by many others I know too. In the original story, one son warot was in university, but the other son was on the run and hiding in Bangkok. Warot is a smokescreen. He is the middle child. The older son has disappeared and gone into a hole much the same as Sean. It is difficult to even find a name on him
intune53
D 3 people have gone very very quiet. Sean. The owner and the son. Laying lower than low. Waiting , waiting .the suspense must be unbearable. Are we gonna worm our Way out of this? one of the people you just mentioned has updated their facebook cover photo yesterday. it now says "hello, goodbye"....... Does not surprise me. It's not that hard for someone to quietly disappear off the radar. People should do their best to keep these 3 right up front and center. sean deleted his facebook profile a few days after leaving thailand after media reported his previous conviction. One of his sisters deleted her profile yesterday. The same sister who had defended him in a comment under an article about his previous conviction which i thought was conveniently produced to defame him and undermine his statements relating to the murders. Sean's girlfriend still has her facebook open as does sean's other sister. Please Sean's family and loved ones, if you are reading this. Please encourage Sean to make a full statement to British Police or a written statement witnessed by a lawyer. Make a full statement and get it to Andy Hall who is representing the Burmese men. Sean is safe now but others are not. I think he's got a moral duty to do so for his friend....
ScotBkk
Where is John. It seems our contemptible friend under the guise of JohnThailandJohn has slinked into the abyss. Unless, of course he's in deep composing mode with more inane literature to further his disdainful furor pent on destroying any reasonable doubt submitted albeit by the public at large or by concerned tv members. This man has a stroke of evil genius. Thus, what can only be described ethically as having the quality of being morally wrong in principle practice or desire? By reading and discussing literature, we expand our imagination, our sense of what is possible, and our ability to empathise with others. Especially, to define the capacity for rational thought or inference or discrimination taking us a step further into the cognitive mindset of its author. This person to me has deep rooted psychological problems and should really be pitied other than be addressed as a downright lunatic let loose on tv topics. Nice to give back some waffle rather than we are exposed to his rants & raves throughout his hijacks on virtually every other post……

RWA
This afternoon I saw Sorayuth on Channel 3 interviewing a police forensic scientist who was saying there was DNA found on Hannah's nipples from two males, neither of whom were David or the two suspects. I wonder what that is all about. There is a Youtube clip in Thai of Khunying Pornthip saying the the Koh Tao case is a "cover-up" (kati ampran). Haven't seen any reports of that elsewhere. Youtube clips are allowed to be posted on Thaivisa, so we all look forward to your posting of the link Edited October 7, 2014 by RWA

Popular Post spidermike007
What is the real moral to this story? Well, one of them is that we are not going to see any meaningful change, to the fabric of Thai society. Many of us were incredibly hopeful that we would see some positive changes. And I think it is quite possible that Prayuth, and his top guys have their hearts in the right places, and want to see this change take place. Many expats, and many Thais really want to see progress, and want to see this country moving forward into this century. Yes, we will see some land crimes solved, and some illegal beach vendors removed. But, in terms of dealing with the massive corruption issues, the kind of power guys like the headman of Koh Tao have, and their ability to abuse that power, and positive changes at an institutional level, and at a national level, where it really counts, many of us now doubt it will happen. This case proves, that many are still above the law, and even the Army cannot touch them. That is the devastating moral to this story. A very disappointing outcome indeed.

Do we end up yet again having posts deleted, if we dare retaliate at these clowns?7) Do we have to revert back to the Tourists in masse who come here like people from Lourdes ‘not to cure’ but to take flying lessons off Balconies and be pronounced death by Suicide.8) Do we all go about our business till another grizzly murder pops up and back to meaningless discussions? Is there really any point of us trying to change a solitary thing if our voices are never heard? I'm beginning to think we're all in some sort of virtual bubble that really has no chance of helping anyone other than the people who run this website to keep the advertisers happy since I've never once seen anyone benefit directly unles they're looking for advice about visas or something along those lines ..just became pretty disallusioned with it all ... must be having a bad day ..... Popular Post jaiyen17
Sounds as though the suspects have finally received some counsel and representation from Lawyers and Human Rights org's and their Embassy. What is stated in this article posted 2 hrs ago is very interesting ~ http://www.dvb.no/news/koh-tao-murderers-were-tortured-says-burmese-embassy-lawyer-burma-myanmar/44781 I've pulled some excerpts. Lawyer Aung Myo Thant said the pair, Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Htun, both 21, from the Arakanese town of Kyaukphyu, told a Burmese embassy legal team they had murdered English tourists Hannah Witheridge and David Miller by bludgeoning them to death with a hoe on 15 September. However, he said, their stories were “somewhat inconsistent” and “their faces portrayed fear”. “From what we have learned, there are inconsistencies with both the forensic report and evidence provided in the case,” said Aung Myo Thant. “The defendants kept repeating that they were very drunk that night. Based on what we have been told, it seems to us like this case is a set-up and not based on hard facts.” Speaking to DVB on Monday, Kyaw Thaung, a representative of the Myanmar Association in Thailand, who attended the interview with the defendants, said, “We went to the prison [on Koh Samui] and were allowed to meet with the two freely. They confessed to committing the crime under the influence of alcohol. When asked for further details, they said they bashed the victims two or three times each with the blunt end of a hoe, but not with the sharp end. They said they did it because they were drunk but did not intend to kill the couple. Htun Aye said the Burmese legal team were denied permission to talk to a third detainee, Maung Maung

Popular Post jacky54
If these two Burmese guys are found guilty then Thailand is damned to hell, it's image will never recover, the cat will be well and truly out of the bag. Until recently they have pulled the wool over some people's eyes some of the time, but with the growth of social media they don't seem to realise the same old lies and deception and just picking on the favourite scapegoats that they think most Thais despise will just not work any more. They have been surprised by the reaction to the usual BS and incompetence, but when we recall some recent outrageous miscarriages of justice blatantly carried out in this country over recent years by the rich and connected it's hardly surprising they thought it would all be put up with again. The encouraging thing is that even Thais do not believe their own Police force or government spokesman. The truth will come out in the end, but I doubt if it will be from a Thai source.

intune53
Hope it's ok to paste this from the Irrawaddy website? "The two migrants from Burma’s Arakan State, Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Htun, are suspected of murdering Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24, on Koh Tao in Thailand’s Surat Thani province on Sept. 15. Aung Myo Thant, a Burmese lawyer who is part of a legal team sent by the Burmese Embassy in Bangkok to represent the accused, told The Irrawaddy that Win Zaw Htun was assaulted and threatened after refusing to confess to the murders during a police interrogation. “He didn’t confess when he was in the investigation center,” Aung Myo Thant said. “A police officer hit the side of his face and the interpreter also hit him four times. Then police threatened to electrocute them [the suspects] and said that no worse thing would happen to them if they confessed. So, they finally confessed as they saw no hope.” The lawyer said Win Zaw Htun had asked him to “please protect us in accordance with the law.” Aung Myo Thant said the migrants signed a power of attorney document over to the embassy’s legal team, allowing it to represent the accused men in court. Thai authorities denied a request by the Burmese legal team to meet with another Burmese migrant Maung Maung, who is being held by Thai police as a witness." Oh, and: "the mother of three Burmese migrant workers who alleged that Thai police poured hot water over them during questioning said she would not let her children speak to the media out of fear for their safety. She said that after the allegation surfaced in the media, Thai police came to warn her children that they would be in trouble if they spoke to the media again." Also hope it's ok to add this link to today's article http://www.irrawaddy.org/burma/burmese-suspects-koh-tao-murders-tortured-interrogation-lawyer.html Edited October 7, 2014 by intune53
