Franky Bear Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I have a Bank of Scotland account. What is the best way to send money electronically from there to my Bkk bank? Send it as Sterling or in Baht?
MJCM Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 1000% Sterling.Else your home bank will do the conversion for you and you will get a very low rate.Edit: // This is current RBS rateTHAI BAHTS 57.43 47.71 So for example 1000 GBP will get you 47.710,- THB but if you let BKKB do the conversion you will get around 51.000 THB Link: http://www.rbs.co.uk/personal/travel/g1/money/exchange-rates.ashx Link: http://www.bangkokbank.com/bangkokbank/webservices/rates/pages/fx_rates.aspx

MJCM Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 No problem let me know how it worked out. Ps: On the BKKBL Foreign Currency Exchange website (link in previous post) you need to look at the rate under BUYING RATES TT. That is the rate the Bank will use on incoming transfers. However Please note the amounts I used in my post are an example and also approx. 1

However Please note the amounts I used in my post are and example and approx, as I didn't take into consideration the costs for the Transfers or the Exchange Rate fluctuation. I've been sending in sterling for years. Was just making sure nothing had changed and that it was better to do it in baht. I never really look at the exchange as no matter what it is....i need the money in Thailand. I know some will tell me that's foolish, but, it works for me Thanks again mate 1
srn89 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 ALWAYS SEND TERLING, THE AHT RATE IN THE U.K. IS ALWAYS A LOT LOWER. sorry for capitals. 1
Jim walker Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I send all the time from my Halifax B.O.S account it costs 9.50 per international transfer I always check the exchange Rate at Bangkok Bank site first the TT rate is usually just exactly what I get and I always send in Sterling because the UK banks will just give you a tourist rate for Bahts
