BAAC to blacklist farmers who abuse the government's subsidy scheme

BANGKOK, 9 October 2014 (NNT) - The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) has warned farmers who violate the conditions of the government’s subsidy scheme for farmers would be put on a blacklist.

BAAC Senior Executive Vice President Somsak Kangteerawat stated that under the scheme, farmers would be given 1,000 baht per rai to cover their expenses during the 2013/2014 rice harvesting season. However, the BAAC would only provide a subsidy of 15,000 baht at maximum to each household.

Farmers who have been found abusing the system by providing dishonest claims such as separating their land into smaller pieces and using names of distant cousins or relatives as owners in order to receive a higher subsidy would be banned from the subsidy program. They would also be held accountable on related charges.

On October 15, the BAAC will hold a meeting among its board members to approve the 40,000 million baht subsidy to assist farmers. The money will be disbursed on October 20 to all farmers who have registered for the program.

Why not prison, as what they are doing if they separate their land into

smaller plots and use proxies, is fraud, plain an simple, don't think they

will worry about black listing, a change of name will solve that.

The blacklist that was issued for storage owners/facilities for their past transgression was ignorned duing the rice scam contracts which the same group was to oversee.

Another organi9zation the good PM should approach with martial law enforcement and penalties that could/will be imposed on everyone involved in any scamming. Write them up and distribute with the promise of enforcement, the hell with a warnimg.

Its like they advertise a roadmap so others who may not have thought of it now can do so.

Rightfully so, like in most civilized countries.

I don't believe even the Thai officials can find yet another way to &%#*^&%^$* UP the farmers !

40 Billion subsidy from which maximum 15.000 Baht per household would be distributed.

That would mean that there are at least 266.666 Households with 15 Rai or more planted with rice .

Could that figure be correct?

The ignored blacklist was under a previous administration who ignored many other things as well, under new management now.

I take that to mean they would be charged for any fraud as well as blacklisted, what do you think ?

Jan. 9, 2014 - BAAC board has rejected a proposal by the caretaker Finance Minister that the government could use the bank's surplus liquidity to pay rice farmers if needed.

Oct. 9, 2014 – BAAC would only provide a subsidy of 15,000 baht at maximum to each rice farmer household to cover their expenses during the 2013/2014 rice harvesting season.

It seems that BAAC is more anxious to cooperate with the Junta-led government on funding rice subsidy schemes than the previous government. Must be a matter of ethical principles. The previous government wasn't backed by the military. wai2.gif

Well encase anyone had not figured it out. You now know what to do. cheesy.gifcheesy.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif
