There is one touch-me-not plant and it's in the way. But I would like to keep it and have fun with it when I want. So I would try to move it into a pot. I would like to hear some ideas from you now, because the first time I did it, I planted the touch-me-not into a pot with good fertilized dirt (the kind of dirt that I use to grow vegetables) and watered it every day, and it died. I don't want that happening again.

Would it be what many refer to as a " sensitive plant" who's young leaves fold up when touched?

A photo would be helpful.

If it is a native plant, you should treat it like a native in it's natural environment.

Don't over water it..don't over feed it.

Try to match it's native soil.

Provide good drainage.

If possible, start one from seed.

many natives do not like their root system disturbed and die when transplanted.

I hope this was some help.

Again, a photo for positive identification would be a big help!

Common names can be very confusing.

Many plants share the same common name.

Here are the pictures.

Yes, that's the one I referred to as a "sensitive plant".

They are easy to grow from seed.

I use to grow them in a green house in California as a novelty.

They can grow into a rather large and invasive tree if you let them.

They do lose their "sensitivity" as they grow older.

Choke Dee!

An obnoxious weed as far as I am concerned ... if it gets hold in the garden, and it seeds it is very difficult to get rid of... they can get into every knock an cranny.... and the barbs on stems are not fun to handle! bah.gif

Do not let it flower and seed if grown in a pot....wink.png
