Former Marine drowns in East Pattaya Lake

PATTAYA: -- On Saturday a 47 year old former Marine drowned in a lake situated in the Hua Yai area.

The body of Khun Boonsong was pulled from the 6 meter deep lake situated in Soi Polo 1 on Saturday afternoon.

Khun Sutat aged 33 was also at the lake with friends and saw the man sitting and drinking alone. Khun Boonsong then approached Khun Sutat and asked him to watch as he demonstrated his swimming skills.

Khun Boonsong jumped into the lake and attempted to swim to the other side but as he was approaching the center of the lake he appeared to get into difficulties and went under the water and was not seen again until he was taken from the water by rescue workers 2 hours later after a short search.

Pure genius.

no mention of if he swan without removing clothing or fully clothed.

no need to die when a simple back-float / paddle will work.

hopefully he was not a member of the "ebola cure" team

perhaps he was really an ex-seal

Good swimming skills but think you need to work staying afloat.

People with extremely low body fat and high muscle density cannot float.

Not true, in fact I'm a great swimmer and in a pool was watching a old German man floating with his hands stretched out, over his head with feet sticking up in through the water, flat. Told me can read the newspaper this way.

Along with this goes a time I was with a fellow worker going to a quarry for a swim and asked him.......you think you can swim across?? He said, no

problem, until we got into the center and looked back and looks like a long way back,.......look forward and looks like a long way duai. So panic sets in

and he's going, I don't think I can't make it. I stayed away and assured him he'll make it back but whatever you do don't panic, I'm here and will help you get back. With that, some caution, some help, he calmed down, made it across and he walked back around, to get back where we started. What a hoot, but back in the machine shop, when I was his mentor and teaching him the machinist trade, he was on nights and my directions were always

met with I CAN DO THAT........I CAN DO THAT!!

A marine who thought he was a submarine. Alcohol - again.
