Colon Cancer Surgeon Recommendation !? Thank you.

Featured Replies

I am urgently looking to locate a colon surgeon for a friend who was diagnosed with colon cancer. He is hoping for robotic surgery, o.c. this will have to be evaluated if possible at all. To be more specific, "colorectal cancer surgeon" Any recommendations in Thailand or abroad much appreciated. Thank you. MS>

Dr.Chucheep Sahakitrungruang is tops.

Trained at the Cleveland Clinic in the US and on the faculty of a leading medical school

Can be seen privately at Bumrungad https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Chucheep-Sahakitrungruang or (once a week only,) at Bangkok Christian Hospital. Can also likely be seen through the Chulongkhorn Hospital"after hours" clinic but you'd have to go there to find out for sure and there might be a slight wait.

Same doctor wherever you see him but costs of treatment will vary greatly by hospital with Bumrungrad the most expensive, Chiula the least and Bkk Chrisitian in the middle

+ 1 on dr chucheep. A close friend also had colon cancer and he had the surgery done at Bkk Christian and was pleased. He is fully recovered and doing ok. If you need additional info you can pm me and I'll get you my friends number and your friend can contact him directly. It's no problem

And I hope everything goes well with your friend.

Good luck.

Don't forget this place .... Her Royal Highness has initiated the establishment of the first comprehensive cancer center in Thailand located within the area of Chulabhorn Research Institute known as, Chulabhorn Cancer Centre.

Could be worth a visit.

I was operated on 6 years ago for colorectal cancer by Dr Sahapon of Pramonkutklau military hospital.

He was introduced to us and recommended by a surgeon at Payatai 2 and gave me the option of having the OP done at either PT2 or PMKK.

I chose the military option as the cost was quoted as about half that at PT2.

We had done a lot of research and he was the second doctor we consulted, the first we were not happy with the answers he gave so went looking for a second opinion, Dr Sahapon gave all the right answers so we went with him, no regrets.

If cost is a factor try the military hospital, they have a dedicated colorectal unit with 4 or 5 specialist surgeons.

If you want a run down on the full treatment from go to discharge let me know.

I would be interested in any recommendations for colon surgeons in the North (Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai). I have had a colonoscopy and CT scan which have identified a 5cm "mass" near the end of the small intestine. I guess I should act quickly so thank you in advance for any shared experiences/recommendations.

This was a good recommendation. I had laparascopic surgery of the small intestine with GIT surgeon Dr Suwan Sanmee on 29 June in Chiang Mai Sriphat and am pleased with the result. Laparascopic surgery is more expensive but where appropriate certainly minimises post-surgery pain and enables faster recovery.
