if you have a work permit can't u have it changed to a multiple within thailand??

my visa is running out so i need a newone would be able to get aone year muiltypul entry from penang or can you suggest anywre else thanks

a colleague at work has a single entry non b that he was issued with to allow him to get his WP. Once he has been issued with the WP ( same as you at the moment) he has been told that all he needs to do is go to the Immigration with both and for the usual fee they will change it to a multiple entry. He was told this by the embassy in KL when he got the single entry. I have no idea if this is in fact correct or not

:o

Immigration office cannot change a visa, but they can give a permission to extent the stay up to one year, provided the employer fullfils a couple of requirements, i.e. minimum capital, number of foreigners versus Thai staff, minimum salary for the employee, depending on nationality. Once the extention is granted, a re-entry permit can be applied for. Baht 1000 for single, Baht 3800 for multiple. Validity of the re-entry will be the same as the permission of stay.
