I don't know that you need liberator. Each Ipod can be registered with 5 computers. That's 5 computers with the same Ipod and Music Store account.

I'm not 100% on this but I think you can connect your Ipod to your computer and copy the ipod info onto your hard-drive. If you re-install itunes you should it should ask you to specify a location of any files to be added - and you can specify which file.

You might like to check out a more specialised forum than this one, though.

Also, it's a good idea to back you music up with CDs too. 4 GB of music should fit on roughly 20 CDs.

20 CDs WILL most definitely hold 4 GB but 6 CDs should suffice. :o

Or even 1 dvd. :D

You definitely want a back up somewhere to be safe.

Hello,

I changed my Ipod firmware to the firmware from rockbox, this is far better then the original firmware from your Ipod (and it is dual boot, so you can still use your original Ipod firmware). This way you can you your Ipod as a normal drive and put the song in normal folders. Rockbox has a lot of advantages, you can even play games, change te layout, you don't need ITunes anymore because you can just copy your songs to the Ipod the normal way. You can also install many different tools that are available for rockbox and it's completely free. Check it out at: http://www.rockbox.org/

Another program that not uses Itunes is Anapod Explorer from Red Chair software. It makes your control over the Ipod much more easy. Cost 25$ (but if you look good there are hacked versions of this package on the net) Check it out at: http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod

There are also allot of free programs on the net to make a backup from your Ipod. Check it out here: http://www.mymusictools.com/download/ipod-backup/

Hope this will help you.

My apologies to you all as i have posted the following reply on the wrong thread, could be due to my state of mind after loosing my ipod info but happily back in positive mode now.

First of all thank you to you all for your advice and much appreciated interest and help.

A special thanks also to spog who has been trying to assist me via pm and showing his patience and understanding.

As the local ADSL is down and being updated i let the local shop take my comp. and monitor away to solve an intermittent problem.

The tech. assured me he,d just sorted another ipod out and could save the info for me.

Yes you,ve guessed it, it,s just come back with fuff all on it apart from some new stuff he,s put on.

Non of the original info saved. tut, tut, tut, tut, tut or words to that effect.

Yes i did curse him a little but alas " he no understand " and oh well it,s not the end of the world.

I feel a little upset as all your efforts and imput are wasted on my sitiuation.

Well not quite as i will save it all for future reference and just maybe someone else can use it also.

I was told that the original comp. was a mac and that,s why non of the methods suggested could be used to effect.

( according to an engineer in Bangkok who was assisting the local tech. anyway. )

Once again thanks, keep up the good work and the assisting of fellow comp/ T.Visa members.

It is not a wasted effort as it provided yet more insight and experience.
