Colonel Sommai: Tarit's land in Pak Chong district was illegally acquired

BANGKOK: -- Former Department of Special Investigation chief Tarit Pengdit’s land in Pak Chong district of Nakhon Ratchasimawas illegally acquired and he also allegedly encroached on another 30 rai on the adjoining land, Colonel Sommai Busaba, a legal affairs officer of the Second Army Region, told an investigating panel of the National Legislative Assembly, today.

The panel led by Mr Marukapitak and the legal team of the Second Army Region were investigating two land plots – one in Tambon Wang Sai and the other in TambonKhanongPhra, both in Pak Chong district which were allegedly owned by MrTarit.

Colonel Sommai said that examination of land documents showed that MrTarit while working as a public prosecutor in Nakhon Ratchasima filed for nor sor 3 land certificate for a 10-rai plot of land in the Lam Takong self-help cooperative by falsely claiming that he was a farmer with 80,000 baht annual income.

After having obtained the nor sor 3 certificate, Mr Tarit authorized his wife, Mrs Wassammon, to apply for the upgrading of the certificate into a land title deed for the 10-rai plot, said the colonel, adding that about 30 rai of the adjoining land was also encroached allegedly by Mr Tarit.

Colonel Sommai also told the NLA panel that Mr Tarit’s brother, Mr Setthawut, encroached on a large plot of land in the self-help cooperative and turned part of it into a resort.

Mr Prasarn said that the former DSI chief could face charge of telling lies to the authorities in order to acquire the land illegally and charge of violating the forestry act and land distribution act.

It would be nice to see " could face a charge... " changed to WILL face a charge(es) to show the new leadership can and will live up to all their fine words.

Are records kept so poorly that one thinks they can fool others with their wives, relatives, maids, and drivers?

Oh right, dumb question. These are the guys making the rules and upholding the laws. Next please....

And he will be told to stand on the naughty step for one hour.

How about a charge fir abuse of power? Violating the publics trust as DSI Chief?

This man should be made an example of to all the other crooks who used their positions to engage in illegal activities. Maybe if harsh punishment is given then others will be less tempted to follow his lead.

However, bein this happened in Thailand he will probably blame someone else and get off with a slap on the wrist

Tarit would look good in prison garb, here's hoping....

Is this a get square to throw off suteps koh Samui dodgy land deals?

Seems lately there's payback going and the yellow elites are in the box seat.

If your going to investigate then clear the backlog .

It would improve the perception of 'equal justice under the law' if this lying weasel got a hefty fine and some real prison time. Law enforcement should be held to a higher standard than regular citizens as should anyone claiming the public trust. No way Tarit would have to give up this land if Ms Yingluck Thaksin were still in charge. Mark this one down in the Junta's 'plus' column.

Tarit is just one......my bet is that there are hundreds of people involved in illegal land purchase, encroachment etc......but it seems that only a few are being picked out.

From local government level, to the top of the chain in governments, military, police, etc......this has been an really simple way to accumulate land...and ultimately, wealth.

"...he also allegedly encroached on another 30 rai ..."

5 yard penalty plus loss of down.. Start the clock...

Lets not concentrate entirely on EX DSI Tarit and look at the events leading up to the land being illegally acquired, who authorised this within the lands department , under what circumstances ie, money changing hands, pressure being applied, lets have a complete investigation into the workings of this particular case and show the people how departments operate under special circumstances., for special people. coffee1.gif

This story as well as many before and after will go away. Can anybody name even one mr. Big that has ever been found guilty and served time. Thought not. Next please.

Ah the first red apologist i should have known it would be you.

IF Suthep his alleged crimes can be proven let him share a cell with Tarit.

I don't get the reds always thinking they are singled out while their side has been in power and abusing it (Tarit a prime example) for so long.. now payback hurts. But is it really payback.. or the prosecution of a crime.. it looks a lot like the latter. Remember grasshopper if you dont break the rules they can go after you. But an utterly corrupt entity as the PTP has a lot to fear.

The said topic is TARIT, against the TVF rules to twist it into a propaganda post.

.....DSI.....'leading the way'.......

Including a certain golf-club & a former-PM, or would that suddenly become politically-motivated, I wonder ?

Former-PM Sorayud lost his land, and had to remove his house, quite right too.

Prosecute the lot of them !

I think he should go in jail for at least 5 years to set an example for everyone.

Furthermore the General should give any one a chance that encroached on land to report themselves within 90 days, pay a large fine (10-20 million Baht at least) and return the land back to the State.

Every police and army officer from high to low rank should also been checked how much they have in the bank over the past 10 years which would be a good start to sort out the bad apples.

I just met a cop last week on Sukhumvit who was around 28-30 years and this guy drove a new Ninja 650. Even on a 5 year finance he couldn't afford that bike.

I realy don't understand why this normal Thai practice is in the header "News".

A person in his position who should be setting and example deserves life in jail.

IF Yingluck and Chalerm was fully aware of they should face criminal charges also and Jail time/

That's a bit harsh, think of the "loss of face." :) You simply can't treat the "powerful" as if they are common folk.... (sarcasm)

The whole mountain range from the start of the higher ground is National park ??? look what is built on both sides of the new highway, thousands of businesses, petrol stations resorts, 50 kilometers of them.

To my mind the new road over that mountain range should be only that with no buildings along it's route. Maybe a few lay bye's here and there.

All the locals have known it for a long time. But what could they say. Special Investigation chief Tarit is not someone to be toyed with. Not until the army spotlight turns around onto the Pak Chong administrators do they pull their head out of the sand. And there are others.

parrot's droppings should be left on the bottom of the cage where they belong.

I and every else who is against the coup who dare oppose the yellow blinkered lot on here just laugh when all they have left is little schoolyard jibes .

Keep it up it just shows you got nothing left in the tank so the insecurity comes out.

Actually I find all you yellow elite coup supporters quite a source of amusement.

I have never personally abused a fellow TVF poster I just have a different of opinion .

Anyway on the legal size of things I'm sure there are many more cases that should have been heard way before Tarit and Yingluck so it just goes to show how scared they are by bumping them up the list to discredit them.

And by the way the posters that jump on threads and call Yingluck a criminal can you please advise me what she has been convicted of because I must have missed it.

I almost feel as if I should apologize, all this time I've been saying that Tarit is incompetent, for sale and biased. Turns out the guy is just a run of the mill crook.
