The largest boat in the show this year will be the 112-foot Custom Line 112.

PHUKET: -- Class Act Media has been appointed a media partner with the Phuket International Boat Show (Pimex).

Andy Dowden, MD of Andaman Marine Consultants, which is the rights holder to the show, commented, “We are excited to have Class Act Media as our local media partner for the 2015 show, providing print, TV, radio and digital media coverage.”

Class Act Media Managing Director Simon Samaan said, “Pimex is obviously one of the biggest events taking place on the island – if not the biggest. So it goes without saying that Class Act Media is proud to be chosen as the prime local media partner for the event.

“The organizers of Pimex have put a lot of faith in us. But we also have no doubt that promoting the event throughout all our media platforms, including Phuket’s only Russian language paper and only English-language radio station will help to ensure that Pimex 2015 is the most successful to date.”

Mr Dowden also announced that Thailand Elite has joined the show as presenting sponsor for the 2015 event.

Mr Dowden said that this year’s Pimex will see 45 to 50 boats on display in Royal Phuket Marina, the biggest booked so far being a 112-foot Custom Line 112.

“We have two boats over 100 feet and six more over 75 feet, plus we have five multihulls. It will be the best in-water display we’ve ever had,” he said.

This is the 12th year that the show has been held in Phuket and last year’s, Mr Dowden said, resulted in sales of around US$20 million (B600 million).

As in previous years, the exhibition hall next to the marina basin will be full of exhibitors showcasing equipment and services for the marine leisure industry, along with property companies and car manufacturers.

The show opens on Thursday, January 8, and will run until the night of Sunday, January 11. It will be open from 11:30am to 8pm on the first day, from noon to 8pm on the 9th and 10th and from 11am to 6pm on the final day.

Getting ready for the Russians to dust off their captains hats and pink shirts.

This event attracts the new rich with questionable taste.

Almost worth going just to people watch.
