My Calendar program is obstructed by an 'event' pane that will not cancel. I cannot use Calendar now. The pane can be moved around with the mouse but I cannot use the calendar as nothing can be entered anywhere in the program. It occurred because I accidentally entered too much data in the title area of an 'event' pane in the 'Week' section.. Can anyone advise how to free it up please? Macair-Os8.5.

Is the same calendar linked, can it be accessed from another program/portal? If so, I would try to edit the entry there.

Otherwise you'll need to download a program that can edit the calendar database directly.

Um... using a web browser, log into iCloud account. Enter Calendar and find the original entry/date you were working on. Edit the entry (maybe with less text?). Resync your device and see if this helped.

Also, you can try going into the iCloud Calendar reset option, (says it doesn't erase data)...

by clicking your iCloud username in top-right-hand-corner and choosing 'iCloud Settings', then select Advanced - Restore Data.

The only other method I'm aware of is to find another app that can 'export' your calendar data, delete/reset/erase the calendar, then re-import the data back. This process isn't always non-destructive (some data or data elements may not get exported/imported).

Hey, it worked! I'm so pleased! Thank you so much, I just deleted it in iCloud and that was it! (Actually I deleted all entires on that day because I couldn't remember which one was affected and the fault didn't show on the iCloud).

Many, Many thanks RichCor!

Glad to know you have control of your calendar back.

I've had clients come close to mental breakdowns on me when their calendars acted as you described. Luckily your's was a simple fix.

Thanks again RichCor. I find the Apple Calendar program a bit buggy and often difficult to use. There used to be a To Do pane on the right hand side, what happened to that do you know? (or is that just my program) Paul

Sorry, that still doesn't make any sense. A google search for that 'tag' only returns a post YOU made on a Mac forum.

I'm asking you be specific, as in Mac Book Air, (year), OS X version (10.x, maybe 10.8 Mountain Lion??) so I can find an exact preview of the iCal Calendar Version you are using.

Maybe you can just tell me the version of iCal you are using (About: Version)

From an article posted on Digital Trends: OS X Mountain Lion review: Our in-depth impressions

Calendar & Reminders:

" iCal is gone, replaced with a very similar Calendar app. Some people loved iCal, others put up with it, but I always found it awkward and unusable. Nothing has changed in Mountain Lion. Calendar even has fewer features than iCal: the to-do list has been migrated out into a separate app called Reminders — just like iOS. Apple has managed to take almost everything that was awkward about iCal and split it between two applications. But there’s a new calendar-based date picker in both the Info and Inspector windows. It’s very 1988, but it is an improvement."

Thanks again Richcor, again you have been so helpful! The Calendar program looks very like iCal it had me fooled. But it is a bit of a step down don't you think? Pity I used to find the ToDo very useful in iCal, but now I know I'll stop looking for it!
