Non O Marriage Visa in Kuala Lumpur - Required Documents

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I have read Thai Visa many times and have found all the advice on other posts very helpful, so thank you all for your excellent work! I am a little confused what documents i require for my Non O marriage Visa. I know that it has probably been posted many times before but there is so many contradictory posts out there that i would be glad for some concise advise. Kuala Lumpur will be my destination of choice because of the cheaper flight prices.

I have done some research and this is what the Kuala Lumpur Thai Embassy recommends ; http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/976 . Please could someone confirm that this is correct or am i required to show pictures of our house/each other etc. I know that sometimes what is written is not always what is expected, having lived and worked legally in Thailand for 6 years.

1. Visa application form duly filled out.

2. Applicant passport valid not less than 6 months. The validity of 18 months is

required for one-year visa application.

3. Copy of passport.

4. (4x6cm.) Photograph(s) of the applicant, taken within the past 6 months.

5. Original and copy of official marriage certificate (For spouse).

6. Original and copy of official birth certificate (For children).

7. Copy of Thai identity card (of spouse or parent).

8. Copy of Thai House registration (of spouse or parent).

9. Bank Statement with a minimum deposit of 100,000 Bath

I also understand that i will only be able to get a 90-day visa and then extend when i am back in Thailand. There is an option for a 1 year non-immigrant O visa but for people with work permits. Is this correct?

Please could someone also confirm that i need to go to the bank and get a Bank Statement and that i cannot just photocopy my bank book?

Thank you all in advance for your help.

This is in the wrong forum, I'll move it to the Thai Visa Forum.

If you have the 400,000 baht deposited, you can have your tourist visa or visa exempt entry converted to non-imm 'O' in Bangkok, no need to leave country.

Form TM.87 and fee Bt 1,900.

Then for the one year extension of stay, that is the same main requirement, no work permit is needed/.

Hey Paz,

Thankyou for your post. The money will be in my bank for two months on the 4th Nov and my tourist visa ends on the 3rd. :) I have already booked my flights and hotel in KL because i thought i had to leave to get a Non O Visa.

Thanks anyway.

You don't need the money to in the bank 60 days to get a single entry non-o visa or to do a conversion at immigration.

It appears your list is of documents is correct. You will not need a letter from the bank to apply for the visa. Your bank book and copies will be enough.

You should have no problems getting your visa. But you never know with KL because they are inconsistent with their requirements and approvals.

Any other nearby location you would not need to show any money to get a single entry non-o based upon marriage.

You will not be able to to apply for your one year extension of stay until the last 30 days of the 90 day entry the non-o visa will allow.

Thank you for your concise response Ubonjoe. I have heard that KL may not be the best place but i have been there for various other visas and they have always been very helpful with no problems.

You can do a conversion in Bangkok to a non immigrant visa entry. But it will mean 2 trips to Bangkok to get it. Plus your wife will need to go with you when you apply.

It would be best to make the trip to Penang or KL to get the non-o visa.

Hi Ubonjoe!

Thanks for fast answer! Ok why do i need to go to bangkok 2 times? If so how long in between 1st and 2nd?

Is it new rules with the Non O for extention based on married i think i read somewere here that any non-immigrant visa should do? im on Ed at the moment.

What paper do i need to bring for the conversion?

I read that i need the original marriage certificate in KL do they keep that or do i get another one at the ampur or how does it work?

One again thanks for the help! Any suggestions that can help would be very appriciated.

Sorry I gave an answer for another post.

You should be able to apply for an extension based upon marriage with an ED visa or if you are on extension of stay do a change of the reason for the extension. But is seems Phuket again has made up their own rules and will not do it.

Or dependent on who told you that you could not do it go back and ask for a supervisor to confirm.

If they will not do it your only choice will be to go out for a single entry non-o visa based upon marriage. You cannot change non immigrant visa classes.

You only need the original marriage certificate to show if they ask to see it. You do not need to attach it to your application.

Hi!

I already tried talk to phuket immigration they said i have to get an non O to get an extantion based on marriage! not much to do.

What will i need to get the non O in KL?

You will need your marriage certificate and a copy, signed and dated copies of your wife's house book and ID card. KL will also want a copy of the income letter you have,
