Does anybody know if I have to appear in person at Immigration to cancel my visa?

I am changing from an NGO Non-Imm O to a business visa and have to cancel the

Non-Imm O before leaving to apply for the Non-Imm B. Can I send a staff person to

Chaeng Wattana with the cancellation letter and a 'mop amnat'? Or do I have to go

in person?

Are you sure you have to cancel your non-O visa and cannot get an extension of say based on working?

Cancellation would mean applying in person (but not all offices are that strict, and leaving the country the same day. You also need to cancel the work permit.

Visas cannot be canceled by immigration.

They can only cancel an extension of stay which you wold have to do yourself.

If you cancel an extension you must leave the country on the same day it is canceled or apply for a 7 day extension, pay 1900 baht and be given 7 days to leave the country.

You will not get a non-b visa from a nearby embassy or consulate without a work permit application approval letter from the labor ministry.
