9 year old seriously injured by firework at Central Pattaya campsite



PATTAYA: -- On Sunday Night a 9 year old boy was rushed to Hospital suffering from serious injuries to his right hand caused by an exploding firework he purchased.

The incident occurred at a constructor’s campsite in Soi 25 off Pattaya Third Road. The boy suffered a severed finger and a partially severed finger and severe burns to his right hand.

Joining him at Hospital was his Mother, Khun Janthai aged 47, who explained that the boy had been paid 20 baht by a work colleague to complete an errand and the boy decided to spend the money on a firework.

He was unsupervised at the time when the firework was lit by the boy who subsequently suffered the injuries to his hand.

Must have been a hack of a guy to sell a 9-year old a large firework.

It is just too sad to be maimed like this as a child.

Selling dangerous fireworks to such young children, awful.

The usual term is "labour camp" as opposed to "campsite". I hope Social Services have been alerted as it appears this child may not be attending school!

I doubt it was even a large firework, most of the mom n pop shops sell fireworks at 5 or 10 baht, you will find them hanging on the same card stands as the 5 baht nuts and dried fruits, shocking really!
