BANGKOK: -- A security guard at a factory in Ayutthaya found a suitcase with "ice" worth Bt30 million hidden in a thick bush near a road, police said yesterday.

Bunhom Wongchanla, 48, called police after he found the "suspicious" suitcase left in a bush about 10 metres from a street.

Bunhom said he intended to catch some fish at a nearby area, which has a irrigation canal, to make a meal as usual. He stumbled upon the suitcase and tried to open but could not. He then rang the rescue operation centre.

Police found 11 bags of 'ice', weighing one kilogram each in the case. Another bag of 'ice' was found outside the suitcase.

Police took all the bags to try to trace fingerprints to identify drug rings involved.

Police suspect that the drug was smuggled from the North or Northeast for sale in Bangkok but the smugglers knew that they were followed and hid the drug to retrieve later.

I wonder if that security guard would have been better off remaining anonymous?

You noticed that also, well I would hope there is no vendetta against him, they did leave it laying about. And he is a security guard, kinda good that he showed some integrity and called the cops.

If anything the smugglers now know where to pick up their shipment, I am sure the police are waiting for their enquiry.

I wonder if that security guard would have been better off remaining anonymous?

I was reading it hoping they used a pseudonym, but here?? If not, he's a marked man. facepalm.gif

It's not rocket science. Remove the 'gear' return the suitcase to it's location - surveillance. Job done when the baddies arrive.

Ooops - there goes the security guard and (probably) his family with a big final thank you to the helpful police and media... coffee1.gif

Would be just if police and media would cough up a few millions as a reward to the honest finder along with a new identity for the whole family. But in Thailand this is too much to ask for, obviously.

I'm out scouting the Banks of the Krungsri River in about 10 minutes. Fingers crossed I don't find 30 million bahts worth of Crystal Meth
