Ayutthaya Bike Police Force what an intelligent idea. I just watched the bike squad streaming out of the station there and wonder why it cannot happen here in Chiang Mai which is also a tourist center. Not only that it would be great to see a greater police presence than the odd helmut checking checkpoint. Thailand wants tourism fine but put up a visible police presence. It would also be nice to see some night patrols. We live close to the Shell gas station here on Huay Kaew road and the number of souped up motorbikes that come screaming out of there after refueling is phenomenal. It goes on all night long. They could have a roving patrol that moves around the city monitoring some of the more traveled avenues and fueling centers. If these speed jockeys were made aware that there are officers on duty during the night it would sure cut down on Evel Kneivel style of operating a motorbike.
