2,000 police deployed in Bangkok during Loy Krathong festival

BANGKOK, Nov 5 -- More than 2,000 police and investigative teams have been deployed to all Loy Kratong venues across Bangkok ahead of the festival to ensure safety, while the southern tourist district of Hat Yai is seeing little growth in hotel bookings this year.

Airport Rail Link to ban fireworks, drunk passengers

BANGKOK: -- The Airport Rail Link will not allow passengers to enter the stations with fireworks from Wednesday to Sunday for safety of other passengers, Pakorn Tangjetsakao, acting president of the SRT Electrified Train Co, said Wednesday.


He said passengers who appear drunk will not be allowed to enter the stations either.

Trat confirms no Ebola on Australian man

TRAT, 5 November 2014 (NNT) – Trat Provincial Public Health Office held a press conference to announce that the Australian man who returned to Thailand on October 17 from the Democratic Republic of Congo, was not infected with the Ebola deadly virus.

Bangkok enacts Regulation prohibiting lantern floating on Loy Krathong Day

BANGKOK, 5 November 2014 (NNT) – M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, Bangkok Governor, has signed a Bangkok regulation which prohibits sale and floating of krathong lanterns in Bangkok on Loy Krathong Day, November 6, during 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. next morning in order to prevent public hazard caused by the fired lantern. Those who do not abide by the regulation will be imprisoned up to three months or fined not exceeding 6,000 baht or both.

PHUKET: Immigration police have strenuously denied asking for bribes from airline passengers for letting them through the newly created lane specifically for people arriving from countries where the deadly Ebola disease is rampant.
