Myanmar asks Thailand to reopen Koh Tao investigation into Britons' murder

Has the Thai police submitted the DNA match to the prosecutor?

If yes, doesn't matter how many times they reopen the case the outcome will be the same.

Now, if the DNA is genuine or not it's another matter, that may be we will never find out.

How they obtained the confessions will have a little standing in the court.

This is Thailand not the USA or Britain.

Allegations and accusations will carry on for a long time to come.

Unfortunately we already have the verdict and may be we will never find out the truth.

If someone did that to me, I would admit to a session with Jimmy Saville and the Krankies!

If Burma can do that - why is it that GB cannot formally ask that British Police can do the investigation (without being distracted by the BIB, of course)?

The RTP ignored the Human Rights Commisions requests to answer their questions regarding the way they obtained the confessions. What makes anyone think a Burmy request will be followed?

Burmese have no right to order Thais around.

Burmese is not the father of Thais.

In fact, some Thai fathers I saw in movies riding elephants and bit the shit out of Burmese in many ancient battle field.

Good on them I say. A government can't be threatened with defamation etc. Long may the people power motion continue to turn the screw and hopefully get some of these issues clarified & dealt with in a proper way.
I doubt it'll be taken heed of but it is great to see the Burmese authorities are actually looking after their own. They must know a hell of a lot and have a whole heap of documents stashed away to make such a bold move. Let's hope they push a little more for the truth to come out

Because this chapter in this sad story is about two Myanmar citizens!!

Where even the Myanmar government now publicly are questioning the handling of the case!!coffee1.gif

Market forces prevent any threat of that sort, not to mention ASEAN treaties.

Would normally be correct, but not in this case!!

Thailand signed a 30 year deal in 1999 with very favourable prices (for Thailand).

Not to mention PTTEP's heavy investment in Myanmar. Present and planned!!

A lie detector test, while not admissible, would be very interesting.

This is just bollywood, the Thais got several time beaten up by the burmese in wars, but the main impact was the destruction of Ayutthaya by the burmese.

The Thai culture did'nt recovered from this event until now.

I am glad to hear that the burmese government, beacon of human rights, cares so much about their citizens in Thailand. After all, their military regime seems to care so much about their people that they beat them senseless (monks), they take really good care of the ´slaves´ working in Thailand and overall take very good care of their ´tribes´ (e.g. Rohingas)

Yes I know, in theory they are a democracy now.
