online store order mistake - how to fix it?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

last week i ordered an MBP 15 intended as a present for my niece in the UK, but have just realised on reading the dispatch email from Apple that i have accidentally ordered a Thai keyboard, not an english keyboard.

Tracking shows that the item has left the distribution centre in China and is on it's way to Thailand.

I am having no joy getting through to any of the numbers listed on the website to try to rectify this - anyone got any ideas?

Does anyone have any experience of returning items to the Apple Thailand online store? i'm wondering if the item can be returned and the keyboard changed or alternatively returned, refunded and a new one ordered.

TIA for any assistance.

I can not help with the replacement, sorry. But do you need to replace the keyboard / laptop? As far as I know Thai keyboard only means that the Thai keys as well as English keys are printed to the keys. Key mapping is done in the system level. For example I'm writing this on MBA with Thai keys printed on it and I only use English and Finnish letters. Swapping between keymaps is easy with Command-Space.

In a way your niece would have a nice reminder of a generous uncle who is living somewhere in the Far East. :)

oilinki thanks for the post mate - worst case scenario her keyboard will look like the above, and that's liveable.

There is one minor problem if she lives in the UK. The keyboard you got actually is a US keyboard not a UK one. No pound sign and a few keys are not in the same place as usual. if she has to use the pound sign she would have to use a key combination.
