How many visits are necessary to get the 1-year extension for a Marriage visa in Pattaya. In Bangkok you have to submit and after about 6 weeks the 1 year extension is approved. Anyone first hand experience? (Because of my age it's not possible to change for a retirement visa).

It's about the same here. They usually tell you to come back after about a month, but the paperwork is usually not ready by then so they tell you another month by which it's ok. At least that's how it's been for me the last 3 years.

Can only speak from Rayong - after three visits!

By the way the immigration in Rayong (and IMO the other Immigration also) has to send the papers to BKK for to grant and also we've waited about 2 months until they've visited my place. I'm also not 50.

Why did they have to visit your place too? ....I'm also under 50

I can't give you answer why. It was my first time. Maybe new or old or only for under 50 - I don't know. I've read it also one time here in TV forum.

I've to drawn a map also (exactly) where I live with all the papers together, but it was no stress... :o

OR may be they just didn't believe those expats under 50 will just drop dead and not doing anything!...therefore I think they're suspecting us having some type of home business without the work permit :o

Can be true, can be speculation, but I belive specifically in this touristic place where I live.

In Bangkok I do not believe there is normally a home visit - you provide them photos together at home on your initial application - so normally the most that would happen is asking of neighbors if you live together with wife. Upcountry the home visit might be made but again it is just to be sure you are really husband/wife.

Yes, it was more for asking our neighbors only. They didn't come in the house.

Perhaps it's better I mention it no longer about... I was probably one that exceptions - sorry for confusion.
