SlyAnimal
Grade 4 is usually the top grade. They usually correspond to the following percentages: 4.0 = 80% or more 3.5 = 75% or more 3.0 = 70% or more 2.5 = 65% or more 2.0 = 60% of more 1.5 = 55% or more 1.0 = 50% or more* 0.0 = Less than 50% (Fail) ม.ส. (Mor Sor) = ไมมีสิทธิ์สอบ (Mai Mee Sit Soob) = Not allowed to sit the exam (This is a fail due to a lack of attendance) ร. (Ror) = รอ (Ror) = Waiting (This is a fail due to some work being incomplete, once the work is completed the student can have their grade changed to a passing grade). *Usually if the student fails for any of the above reasons, they can do some additional work for their subject teacher, and then have their grade changed to a 1.0. It is generally accepted by everyone in Thailand, that a 1.0 is essentially a fail. The additional work might be a little or a lot, it's at the discretion of the teacher, and may have a learning objective, or might just be a punishment e.g. I give students with ม.ส. 250 lines for every day they were absent (I only fail students who have less than 80% attendance), other teachers might give some maths questions or ask the student to weed the garden or pickup rubbish. For ร. the student usually just needs to complete the work which they didn't finish during the term.
