NLA yet to consider impeachment of former senators; case file yet to arrive

BANGKOK, 20 November 2014 (NNT) – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) whip has yet to consider the National Anti-Corruption Commission's impeachment motion on former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra or the 38 former senators.

Dr. Chet Siratharanon, spokesperson for the NLA whip, revealed that the meeting did not involve discussions about the impeachment motion on former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra for her handling of the rice pledging scheme.

Neither did the meeting involve discussions on the impeachment of 38 former senators who have been marked as wrongdoers by the National Anti-Corruption Commission for their decision to amend the section on Senate recruitment within the now-defunct constitution of 2007. Dr. Chet added that the case file for the latter impeachment motion has yet to arrive at the NLA.

The NLA whip also reached the resolution that Major General Konlachai Suwannabun, an NLA member who is also one of the former 38 senators, will be able to log his name as having attended the meeting to consider the impeachment motion, but will not be allowed to be present while the meeting is ongoing and will also not be allowed to vote on the topic.

Wut? w00t.gif So he's there, but he's not there? Must be the first case of an active inactive active placement..... guess it's for salary purposes. He is a Major General, after all.

So, if I have this correct, the second impeachment of senators who attempted to amend some sections of the constitution is being conducted by those appointed by the person who repealed the whole constitution.

And they wonder why society is divided!

In short, a retroactive impeachment common in Thailand and used frequently by the establishment when they couldn't find within the existing laws to prosecute.

Retroactive or retrospective prosecution of any law which does not now exist or is irrelevant because of changed circumstances is just an abuse of legal process for, in this case, political advantage.

If this impeachment continues, it may be possible at any time in the future to commence action against those who removed the constitution or aided in the removal.

And the result is..... The conflicts and legal in fights continue.

Meanwhile, in other news, it failed to snow in Thailand for the one thousandth year in a row. Just a little news release to let everyone know we have not done anything today, and may not do anything tomorrow.

Twist and turn it as much as you can, guys, you won't be able to erase what they have done, and deserve to be banned for, for life, not for 5 years!

P.S.: the same when they would have been 'sympathetic' to any other political formation for what I'm concerned
