Hello all, I'm looking for recommendations for a music school for my 4 year old son. We're considering either violin or piano/keyboard lessons. Preferably around north/east of Bangkok.

I am myself a concert pianist and I come many times to Thailand to give concerts and piano masterclasses.

Now I know the musical sistem in Bangkok, and there are many things to say about it.

There is a high level of the musical structures (nice new schools with wonderful instruments and nice socialization for the kids in the music schools).

But 99% of the Thai music teachers absolutely don't reach the level of an average European standard.

Of course there are good teachers, but you must know them.

In Bangkok you find an excellent piano teacher in Yamaha Ratchadapisek school (it's in Fortune Town, at the underground floor, MRT Phra Ram 9): his name is Alberto Firrincieli. He is also the only harpsichord teacher in Bangkok; he is as well a very good concert player (we toured many countries and had recitals together).

He gives private lessons at his home, as well as in the school.

Well, it is not a question of knowing all the music teachers.

It is a question of the system of musical education in Thailand, which is not very good yet.

The situation is improving year by year, but you need a lot of time to build a serious structure of musical education.

You can find also in Thailand incredible good music teachers, but less than in many European countries.
