grayhat
I am getting a very high pitched, high frequency noise when ever my hard disk accesses. Last week I put in a new motherboard, could this be the RAID controller built into the motherboard or the hard disk itself?

Than you can hear where it comes from. Actually it is not easy to understand what you hear as the housing of the computer transfers the sound everywhere so it needs experience...... PMK
There is nothing mechanical in a RAID controller. Run manufacturer's diagnostic software on the hard drive.
