Looks like the iran nuclear talks might work out which would mean US and western investment flowing into that country in a massive way- anyone know of any proxy investments e.g. western companies that would benefit specifically?

Israel looks like it is gearing up to bomb the crap out of the place if they don't desist from making weapons grade uranium, so might not be a good time to invest

I would invest in their nuke program, guaranteed to keep on running

Actually you're may be right - investment in Iranian electrical energy systems may include nuclear generated electrical energy. Although some American Republican Congressmen are against any nuclear electrcial power generation capability in Iran. That's important because it will be an Republican controlled US congress as of January 2015.

If Iran gets sanctions lifted, it will need massive additional electrical energy for new and expanding industries throughout the nation, kind of an industrial revolution. That will require more electrical generation. Iran can increase consumption of its own oil for oil-fired electrical plants but it may decide in the short term that oil would be necessary for export for quick capital - leaving its current nuclear power plant for electrical generation. Utilities usually have government mandated returns and solvency backed by government resources. So if the chips fall into place, a low risk investment in Iranian utilities may be the place for investment.

IF...a country with about the same population of Turkey and Thailand but with a larger GDP and more educated. There would be a lot of choices and investments could be internal (Iranian-based companies) and external (global companies).

External

- International airlines and cargo shipping

- International engineering design & construction companies

- auto & aircraft manufacturing

- major grocery retailers

- steel manufacturers

- plastics

- medicines

Internal

- Iran stock market

- national food franchises

- engineering design & construction

- auto & aircraft manufacturing

- mining

- oil refinery

- insurance

Nice post. Exactly the sort of analysis that makes the big bucks sometimes (i bought Russian stocks soon after they initially invaded Ukraine and had dropped 10%-made a tidy profit three weeks later when_as anticipated_there were no serious sanctions. - , not for the feint hearted true :)
