Nigeria unrest: Kano mosque attack kills dozens

Dozens have been killed in a gun and bomb attack during prayers at one of the biggest mosques in the northern Nigerian city of Kano, officials say.

Many more people have been hurt, with one rescue official putting casualty figures at almost 400.

The Central Mosque is where the influential Muslim leader, the Emir of Kano, usually leads prayers.

The emir recently called for people to arm themselves against Islamist militant group Boko Haram.

No group said it had carried out the attack, but the assumption is that Boko Haram was behind it.

In the main it is Muslims killing Muslims, so on the one hand we could say good luck they are leaving the rest of us alone.

BUT there is another way of looking at this. When will the peace loving Muslims rise up against these animals.

All over the world there is the same situation, Muslims will not say anything against Islamist's so 1.499999999999 billion Muslims are happy to see their friends and families killed by 1 million sadistic animals.

They are truly mad but then when Muslims stone women to death for allowing themselves to be raped are we surprised.

The States have their own issues and the west has poured in billions upon billions in the past 2+ decades. What can't that continent or some of the wealthier countries do something themselves about some of myriad of issues that plague this continent.

Plenty of posters say don't arm those wanting to fight against Islamic extremists such as ISIS.

Somewhat difficult to rise up or defend yourself against extremists if you don't have weapons or insufficient fire power. The reason Hoko Haram attacked the mosque area was because the local Emir had requested arms to defend themselves. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Sunni Muslims have been murdered in Iraq and Syria by ISIS when they refuse to join their group.

In Nigeria the central government is corrupt, not providing enough support for those wanting to resist Hoko Haram and so on. Plenty of reports the Nigerian military is carrying out systemic abuse of the civilian population, which of course is totally counter productive to resisting an insurgency, not engaging with the armed enemy etc
