Interesting story. Why does an Aussi have Euros and not Aussi dollars? coffee1.gif

Interesting post. Why would anyone ask such a banal question?

Agree with you entirely "Sviss Geez"

This whole thread in the main reeks of misunderstanding or just plain ignorance!

The fact that this man had a certain currency in his wallet has no bearing whatsoever re the "ACTUAL" topic.

There could be 101 reasons why he had ANY particular currency in his wallet.........Absolutely no bearing or connection with the story at hand.

For those of you that come to Thailand and can only think of your home currency and Thai Baht please switch on and realize

others......your mates.......enjoying whatever in the LOS, are quite possibly more worldly and have currencies to suit their

needs or requirements other than Soi 6 or the like.

teacher eh,wait till he gets back to work.cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

It's school term at the moment in Australia, so what's he doing in Pattaya? Schools finish for the year on 19th December.

Maybe he's teaching in Thailand?
maybe, a lot of farangs teaching in Thailand. Not teachers but doing/attempting the role.

rue. My daughter was offered a job at the PIA in Phuket as sports director (for the school, there is another overall sports director) She knocked it back as in her words, it was Mickey Mouse, and that's supposed to be one of the better schools!

Some people never learn !!Thinking with his small head not his big head. !!DOH!!

Some people never learn and consider themselves the teacher of others, in matters they were not involved in.

Drugging tourists = death penalty That will bring a quick end to this

horrific practice in which many tourists have died from being dosed improperly.

Also the TAT should pay attention, as I am fairly sure every drugged tourist

will never return to Thailand. .......

just reading reports about treatment of tourists by official and unofficial orders alike, has put me off going over for Xmas, and have cancelled my flight....

What reports are you reading? Hope not those on the forum or in some of those papers that suggest they provide news. It depends on what you are looking for. Some of the more well known areas are getting a lot of press through undesirables, both home grown and the better class of imports but if you took everything you read seriously, you would never travel anywhere.

Admittedly, Phuket and Pattaya are not my cup of tea but to say you cancelled your holidays from what you have read is a bit over the top. I live n Thailand, north east and find that some areas here and in the north can have their problems but it has never stopped me from seeing the country at every opportunity. I had never been to either city until last year but when my wife took her holidays we travelled to firstly, Krabi and then by boat to Phuket. Then we drove from Krabi to Pattaya and spent a week there.

Never had a problem, then again I do not do anything that would place either my wife or myself in danger. We visited some seedy bars, just so I could say, been there, done that, and at no time did we encounter any problems, despite me having to reject the advances of the girls, despite the presence of my wife. We stayed for a while, had a few drinks and chatted. Very courteous despite what some may think of the working girl.

Two things may have been to my benefit though, my wife is Thai and I can speak Thai. Despite this, I have seen many. many tourists in those areas and they far outweigh the number of farangs who get themselves into trouble, obviously through not having common sense and their stupidity.

Why deprive yourself of a life experience based on what you read. You could always come to the north or north east and find the true Thailand, not the commercialised areas in the south. You could probably stay home and see some of those sights which, no doubt, exist in your country.

Well said sir. A rare voice of real experience and sanity on this forum. Most people who make negative comments about Thailand have never been here, just read about it. They often also have a very negative, spite filled, conservative view of life. It's unreal at times.

It is during this time that he suspects his Beer was laced with sleeping medication. He began to feel drowsy and was assisted to a motorbike taxi who took all three people to his hotel in the Naklua area.

So he is dumb enough to suspect he was drugged but still brought the ladies back to his hotel? What's even worse is they were probably not even ladies, me thinks they had some dangling bits between their legs.

Also, HOW did 4 full grown people manage to fit on a motorbike taxi?

Do you live in Thailand? Never seen four adults on a motorcycle? Don't ask me how they do it, I wouldn't but it is done, over and over on a daily basis. Yes agree, he leaves a little to be desired in the grey matter category but at this stage we really don't know if they were females or Katoeys. Let's wait see before we assume. Then once we know we can all have a laugh.

Of course, I've seen 6 people on a motorbike, but not full grown. But my question was really mostly in jest.

I cannot believe they are being called prostitutes. They never had sex with him, only robbed him,They were thieves,Then there is another story on here ,A thai bar girl,Has sex for money with a thai man,and is robbed. So the thief is a prostitute, and the prostitute is a bar girl. You can understand, why people get confused with thailand,

You have done the right thing.Sad to say,But thailand is a time bomb,Ready to explode. You might have gone, and had the best time ever,But i doubt it,Many farrangs are robbed, and they dont even know it has happened,My freind just came back,He would never listen to me,He has been 3 times, now he knows it all.Sadly he knows nothing,He was robbed of £400.I have a saying ,The easy way or the hard way.Thailand is very easy to loose your money. You should have kept your flight. And got a bus to cambodia from bangkok.Go to victory hill.A lot of expats, who are clued up on staying over there, would have looked after you.

Not understanding this story.. an Aussie with Euros in his wallet ?

Yes, that's really strange, isn't it? Everyone knows that Australians cannot, do not and will never possess Euros.

Well, not for any length of time anyways !

Three's a crowd

I know it seems exciting at the time but it is rarely a good idea to risk taking two girls back to your room

I've done it and nearly suffered painful consequences

Just pleased that this unfortunate Aussie teacher didn't come to any physical harm

Write 100 lines

I must not take 2 girls at once back to my room

As in the other thread, these stories will belong to the past very soon, because "Pattaya, which is now stereotyped as a nightlife and beach resort city, will be refocused as a world-class sports and family destination."

Curious though as to how they are going to do it ?

Report the theft and file a police report, get your name and photo in the paper. Very embarrassing and possible further

consequences. Or, let the whole thing go, remain anonymous with your expensive lesson. I think the police make this as

embarrassing as possible so anyone who knows what the consequences of reporting the crime is, will just stay silent.

Even if they catch the culprits if they say they have spent the money they get a slap on the wrist, no restitution. I am happy

these guys report the crime so people are alerted to the dangers, but I will bet most wish they had remained silent,

taken there lumps and moved on. blink.png

Aah, every Aussie man's dream - a pizza, a six-pack and a threesome. From Barry McKenzie to Shane Warne, we seem to have our priorities well and truly sorted before we get on the plane.

He'll probably go back to Oz and tell his mates he didnt pay a single Satang for sex in Thailand, and technically he'll be right - there was no sex and he received a 20-baht note in exchange for the 550 Euros that previously resided in his wallet. I was never a big fan of Maths at school, but that strikes me as one hell of an exchange rate.

Bon voyage, Mario old cobber - please tell your friends and family the real story - I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they ask whether you would have acted the same way if two complete strangers approached you in Europe or any Australian city.

And free drugs as well, but we usually handle our drugs better than that, and dont pass out until after sex, with both!!!
