Ok. So my current non O visa expired on oct 30. I entered on the 17th oct and was stamped in until jan 14 2015. I am under the impression that im allowed to stay until jan 14 and i will need to apply for an extension based on retirement 15 days (max)before the 14th.

A mate of mine is now telling me this is all wrong and im on overstay? I await the wise words from ubonjoe and others with the correct knowledge.thanks

Your mate has given you duff info, It's not the expiry date of the visa which is the critical one but the latest "Admitted until" date stamped in your passport (14 January 2015). And you can, in fact, apply for a retirement extension up to 30 days early - or even up to 45 days early if your local immigration office is either Chaengwattana (Bangkok) or Jomtien (Pattaya). Sooner rather than later is better in my view - especially if, as I strongly suspect, this will be your first extension application.

Thanks for clearing that up and it is my first extension as i cant get a non O from the UK any more as i now need to be 65.....i waited long enough to be 50! I read here that they stopped extensions at jomtien and i have to go to chang wattana. Is that still correct?

Thanks

They still can do extensions at Jomtien.

They cannot do conversions to a non immigrant visa that are needed if you don't already have one.

i am sure this is caused by confusion from people calling extensions based upon retirement a retirement visa.
