David48
Kenny ... up to you. Mate, if you think that Vodaphone has a network in Thailand ... up to you. They have an agreement with a local Thai carrier. In Thailand it's TRUE Mate, if you don't know what a phone card is ... up to you. As you said you have 'travelled the world many times'. Instead of blaming others, instead of getting angry, work on solutions, not on the problem. 'We' ... yes, I probably use the term ... but I use it in a positive way. There are many Aussies who live, or have spent a long time in Thailand and we try an help each other. What happens when a thread is written and people pile in and try and help. Have a read of this ... penned only yesterday ... musings-of-an-expat-returned-to-australia No-one is trying to lecture you ... I was, conversely, trying to help. When you are stuck in a foreign country and there seems no-one around to help, 'we' are always here. Up to you how that relationship progresses. You can blast away again ... I'll let you have the last word. .
Kenny202
Well I just got an email from Vodafone saying they only have on partner carrier in Thailand. DTAC. You are posting information that is WRONG
Kenny202
And a lecture.....or a statement from your mother would normally start with something like... Kenny, Kenny, Kenny
Kenny202
And people who don't have a logical response or argument in fact always come back with "up to you". It's an easy out. I didn't ask for your help nor do I want it in the future. I'd be sitting here trying to connect to TRUE move all day!
Bluetongue
On my phone (dual sim) you can manually select operator, it searches all the towers and gives you a list of options. On the Australian Sim (Telstra) if you choose AIS it wont connect, but if you choose DTAC it connects but comes up on the phone as TRUE. So you are both probably right. I do all my internet banking dealing with 3 institutions in Australia and get my OTP to the Australian Sim no worries. Just with the Commonwealth Netbank make sure you send $A as if you choose to send baht you get their, much worse, exchange rate
Bluetongue
Also you can reverse charge the Commonwealth Bank for a phone call, I don't have the number handy but I have done it. Google has I think it
David48
... but if you choose DTAC it connects but comes up on the phone as TRUE. ... BT ... great post ... the OP is too pig ignorant to accept any advice from the old hands. Sadly this happens with men in their 60's, who have recently retired. So, despite the OP stating that ... Well I just got an email from Vodafone saying they only have on partner carrier in Thailand. DTAC. You are posting information that is WRONG Some people just can't be helped ... OP (Kenny) ... from Vodaphones own website ... BTW ... yes, I am listening to FatBoySlim ... Edited December 5, 2014 by David48

David48
In my 60's hahaha. How on earth did you "old hand" assume that? :-) Warmest apologies ... a man in his 50's ... and early 50's at that. Always happy to admit if I'm wrong. Good luck with it all. Enjoy Thailand.
