hercdogules
So one of my family members will need special care to take back to the USA it seems - almost as much as getting the wife's visa. Here is what I've read: http://www.birdtricks.com/blog/how-import-pet-birds-into-the-u-s-a-the-complete-saga/ Has anyone taken their pet home to the USA? What airlines will allow? Will they all them carry on/unchecked? Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Link to comment
maccaroni man
I have known two couples with dogs who eventually found new homes for their pets because of all the red tape. Quarantine is almost a guarantee, documentation of purchase and vaccine on and on ..... Good luck Link to comment
harryfrompattaya
One way is to get the bird drunk and put the bird in you suitcase Link to comment
321Rich
You could have it stuffed and mounted like Roy Rogers did with his horse but you would still have major trouble with customs. Yes, that is a most disgusting answer, sorry. Perhaps the more relevant question is how much money are you willing to pour into the project? A quarantine is required once any animal arrives from outside the USA. Not positive but I am reasonably sure that quarantine takes place at the customs facility where the airplane arrives from overseas — not in your home town. Good luck with your solution. Pacificperson
The bird flu thing will probably be a show stopper. Check this before you make any plans. Also, how much are you willing to spend? It may wind-up being very expensive. Edited December 28, 2014 by Pacificperson Link to comment

rikimilton
Conures are social creatures, but you might have a better chance at bonding with your pet parrot if you are the one it’s social with. Also, some pet conures can become territorial within their cage and battle with their pet conure cage mate. Link to comment
kieran2698
Do you have cites certification? Your bird is an endangered species, endangered as a direct result of them being trapped and sold for the pet trade. Link to comment
