Prime Minister Hun Sen will travel to South Korea today on a visit that is aimed at expanding relations between the two countries.

According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, during his four-day trip, the premier will attend the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit, meet with Cambodian workers and students, and hold a bilateral meeting with South Korean President Park Geun-hye.

The two leaders will witness the signing of five documents, covering bilateral cooperation in education, business, intellectual property, health care and medical science, and banking and finance, the statement says.

Several government ministers will accompany Hun Sen.

Outgoing South Korean ambassador Kim Han-Soo said that the visit “will give great momentum for the two countries to improve our relations”.

The visit comes just days after hundreds of Cambodians in Seoul protested for the release of activists detained in Phnom Penh.
