started getting spammed on Saturday by Russian website

I used public wi-fi at a hotel Weds-Fri and on Saturday started to get spammed by a Russian website VK Target.ru I delete the entries from search history that show on google--i didn't search. I have run avg free and nothing comes up. I am trying to do my final exam grades and this is really interferring with me reviewing speaking videos, sending grades, etc. It happens with both chrome and firefox. Anyone know what to do?

I am getting popups of pictures, porn ads popping up every 20 seconds or so in Russian and the "x" to close the screen popup is at the very far corner. I don't search for this type of material online. If I don't touch the x correctly the page pops up. The x is so close to the corner that just scrolling in my browser if I am not in the center of the narrow strip to navigate the up/down movement, I can accidentally click on the popups. Thanks for the suggestions for the free malware screeners.

This is happening quite a bit throughout Thailand. TP-Link routers are getting "hacked". People are leaving default passwords on routers and some clown is going in and changing dns entries on the router.

try adding "block Site" free add on from firefox

just enter the site you want blocked,you'll never see that site again

use it all the time,never had a problem.

Yes you can block sites but with time you will be getting more and more. Focus.us is a russian stammer based.. guess where? In Thailand . You probably have a browser hijacking, meaning that the unpleasant parasite is embedded somewhere on your machine. Go to 'bleeping computer' and use the search function. I went through this too, I got infected because I kindly gave a neighbour our Wife password.

Go to "restricted areas" and paste the link that shows the reproducing guys and you'll be left alone, without porn. If it pops up again, do it again and again, until it stops squirting on you.

And if you really want to relax, search the hamster forum. But please be aware that these tiny creatures need a lot of attention.

I've had the same problem in OS X. None of the existing anti-virus and adware removal tools worked. I finally found SelfControl, free software designed to help Facebook addicts stop their addictions for periods up to 24 hours. It's necessary to add all the URLs you're being switched to and then they're blocked - well, I can't stop the popups, but now they have no content.

The problem isn't OSX. It's not on your computer. Your router was hacked. The pop up ads are the least of your problems. The bad guys can now set up a perfect "man in the middle" attack and potentially grab any password you enter anywhere.

This works fine although after running it I was still getting a pop up at the bottom of the screen showing a & of how much a iste is trusted so in FF went to help then trouble shooting information & clciked rset which seems to have stopped it. I had all those pop up ads not that long ago, got rid of them & then they started again the other day. All gone for now though.

Google reset router. You can start with a physical restart, if that doesn't work you will have to go into settings. You will need your router password and some stuff needs backing up.
