Thai researchers and inventors to vie for awards in Taiwan

BANGKOK, 16 December 2014 (NNT) - The National Research Council of Thailand is promoting the works of award-winning Thai researchers and inventors from the international stage and is gearing up to submit 14 more works to a convention in Taiwan in the middle of this month.

According to Sutthipon Chidmitrapob, the Secretary General of the National Research Council of Thailand, the Council has long been supporting Thai researchers and inventors by presenting their quality works at international conventions worldwide. In the past, Thai participants have garnered recognition in 4 countries: Poland, Belgium, China and South Korea.

The convention in Poland, the 8th International Warsaw Invention Show (IWIS 2014) was held on October 14 – 16, during which the Council submitted works from 2 organizations and bagged 10 awards for 4 pieces of the work.

The convention in Belgium, entitled the 63rd Brussels Eureka: The Belgian and International Trade Fair for Technological Innovation (Brussels Innova 2014), was held between November 13 – 15 of , from which Thailand received 10 awards for 5 pieces of work.

The convention in Belgium was held on the 19 – 22 of November, titled the 8th International Exhibition of Inventions, Kunshan, New Technologies and New Products (IEIK 2014.) The Council submitted 16 works from 8 organizations and received a total of 31 awards.

The convention in South Korea was held on the 28 of November – 1 of December, titled the Seoul International Invention Fair 2014 (SIIF 2014.) The Council submitted 34 pieces of work from 11 organizations and garnered 54 awards.

The next convention, the Kaohsiung International Exhibition (KIE 2014), will take place on December 19 – 21. 2014 in Taiwan.

With all the burning going on here in the north, I believe that they think they invented fire and are just showing off. Can't see any other logical reason to burn off all that potential compost. Especially when the most important and revered leaders have implored them to stop this practice which leaves a large proportion of the population with respiratory ailments filling the emergency rooms of the local hospitals.

Isn't take away food in a plastic bag a Thai invention?

Latest invention from Thailand, 'the inflatable stack of rice bags facade'. Simply blow up and place as many as you may in any government rice scheme warehouse. Received many awards in Thailand as well as Nigeria, Philippines and Nicaragua.

Really what has Thailand given to the world in the way of scholars,inventors,sportspeople ,cuisines ( maybe pad Thai most others are knock offs from Laos ) , great statesmen, music , writers , explorers ect ect ...... The cupboard is very bare for the size of their population . They seem to be in the top 15 in the world for wrongdoing - road deaths , slavery index , corruption , money laundering something I guess they are proud of .

Really what has Thailand given to the world in the way of scholars,inventors,sportspeople ,cuisines ( maybe pad Thai most others are knock offs from Laos ) , great statesmen, music , writers , explorers ect ect ...... Watched a cooking show yesterday that said Pad Thai was Chinese and came here 100 years ago with immigrants. Can cross that off the list too!

The only piece of technology there is the 'dinsow robot'. I searched google and found a video.

I have noticed for a long time that Thailand has very little to give to the world which nature didn't give them first. They seem obsessed with copying things but making it 'Thai Style' (google translate: as cheap and naff as possible).

I would love to know who all these 'award winners' are !.

Have you read through the references at the bottom of the page? Only links to The Nation & Bangkok Post articles, including a profile of a world renowned 'gypsy doctor'. Of course, the latest Ebola vaccine story is referenced...

It would be nice is Thailand produced some genuine inventions. However, having been to some Thailand Inventors exhibitions, I found that most of the inventions are copies of patented European and American Inventions including my own. As for the rotating fish slice floating aeration device......

Controversy over plagiarism in the PhD thesis of Supachai Lorlowhakarn, director of Thailand’s National Innovation Agency, or NIA, has highlighted concerns over academic integrity and a widespread culture of plagiarism. Supachai had plagiarised most of Thailand-based agricultural researcher Wyn Elliss research, word for word, for his thesis. Chulalongkorn University revoked the PhD in 2012, for the first time in the institution’s history. However Supachai was not removed from his post as Director of Thailand's National Innovation Agency.

The only genuine Thai invention appears to be the Jet Ski Scam.
