Stargeezr
Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope the police campaign is a great success. I met some police members in Hua Hin and in Bangkok, who were decent people, trying to make a living, just like everyone else in the world. I always try to have a good visit to Thailand, and I have been helped by both the local police, and Tourist Police when I needed their help in the past. I am aware that the members are not really very high paid, and there are always some who will try to improve their lot in life. I have paid a few instant fines, while riding my motorbike, and at least the fine was reasonable, and I did not have to go out of my way, as I do here in Canada. Life goes on! lvr181
"You'll Never Walk Alone"? Yup, right - policeman will be there with you, carrying his container for you to urinate in?
Dogmatix
You'll never walk alone on Sukhumvit because Thonglor police are with you testing your pp and grabbing your cash.
Mr Somtam
Maybe enforcing the law is a better idea to make people feel safe... Common sense, honest days work, responsibility - nah...
hawker9000
Dear Thai Police, Yes, we know all about your sche..., err, "plans" for keeping us company out there on the mean streets. But if it's all the same to you, we'll just keep walking alone. Thanks anyway. /s/ Extortion-averse tourists
outsider
You'll never walk alone. You will always be accosted, frisked, tested, extorted fined and harassed. Brilliant. And it's an official campaign now.

Gary A
There are many nationalities here in Thailand. Some good, some bad but we all hate to be tarred with the same brush. The Thai police are the same. There are good ones and bad ones.

45slap
Sounds like Thailand is going Christian, or a some clown's been listening to too much damned country music.
aimbc
>>Calls could be reached right to the duty police officers directly in addition to the busy 191 call by dialling 0613850191 / 0613851191 / 0613852191 and 0613853191 at 24 hours, he said.<< Quote So to replace the too busy emergency line, they bought 3 mobile phones!! Pure genius!! I think this is to allow callers who are calling from their mobile and not the public phone booths, as the calls from phone booth can not be traced while mobile they can. May help reduce prank and non emergency calls from public phone booths.
