webfact
9 luxury cars seized in raidThe NationBANGKOK: -- NINE LUXURY cars worth more than Bt20 million in total were seized from two Bangkok homes in raids led by the Crime Suppression Division on Tuesday, acting CSD chief Pol Maj-General Akkaradet Pimolsri announced yesterday. He said police had yet to work out who the owners of the vehicles were as no registration details were available after an initial verification by the Land Transport Department, and no import documents were found in the houses. Police are still trying to find out whom the vehicles were meant for and who had smuggled them into the country, he said. The officer did not explain why the department had no registration details of the vehicles even though they all had red licence plates. He only said the CSD would investigate to find the origins of the vehicles as well as details of who should be held responsible. At a police press conference yesterday, the CSD acting chief said the raid had been prompted by tip-offs from residents nearby who noticed suspicious activities at the two houses in Wattana district, off Soi Charoen Jai and Soi Phatthanawet.Akkaradet did not say whether anybody was in the premises during the raids. The nine vehicles are a grey BMW 730Ld; a white Lexus RX 370; a grey Mercedes-Benz; a white BMW X6; two white Toyota Vellfires; a black Toyota Vellfire; a grey Nissan Fairlady Z; and a white BMW 5- Series. There are two much-followed but unsolved cases involving luxury cars - one related to a large number of smuggled vehicles kept at the Customs Department going missing this year, and the other about a number of them catching fire while being transported in Nakhon Ratchasima in June last year.Police have been silent over both cases.Source: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/national/9-luxury-cars-seized-in-raid-30250611.html-- The Nation 2014-12-
Popular Post Fiddlesticks
There are two much-followed but unsolved cases involving luxury cars Soon there will be three, notably, where did all the paperwork go that indicated who these latest cars were intended for. Thailand is like the Bermuda Triangle of incriminating evidence.
Popular Post SABloke
The cars listed are definitely worth more than 20 mil. Anyway, I'm not a cop, but if I were doing the investigating, my prime suspects would be the OWNERS OF THE HOUSES!!!
LuckyLew
I told them not to park the cars there, but did they listen? 55555

AlQaholic
When will they take a look at the Police Headquarters parking lot? I bet the value of those cars far overshoots the value of this lot. OOOPPS! That IS the Police headquarters parking lot..... What is the problem here? The cars got plates,So they are registered in someone's name,,They will have an address,,,Just Go get the Police/Army and apprehend them,if they can't/will do that then they must be involved then go to PM

I am honestly curious. There's a "Bonded" warehouse zone at Laem Chabang port, where a Thai company can import, say a left hand drive luxury car, convert it to right hand drive, and then it theoretically gets exported to Malaysia or Australia etc with no Thai import duties, as it, again theoretically, doesn't leave the bonded area. I'd imagine a few slip thru there.

jakobvarming
There's just SO much irony in this. The Crime Suppression Division people are maybe, just maybe NOT the right people to point fingers at other people's crimes... Just look at the latest findings of stashed cash in the houses of the highest ranking people in that same division... Thailand, the land of IRONY.... This charade will not end in Thailand in the forseeable future...
