Farang protests against 'Thai girls trying to be farang' at Central Ladprao
By Prae Sakaowan

BANGKOK: -- In a move to express his disapproval of Thai women who “follow farang fashion”, an unidentified foreign man shared his opinion by standing in front of a shopping mall yesterday with a sign suggesting how embarrassing Thai women have become.

This interesting photo was shared by Twitter user @KBoondham who claimed he saw the foreigner holding a one-man protest yesterday around 5pm in front of Central Ladprao.

"Thai women, they have lost all their power. They left themselves behind to follow farang fashion. They've turned into farang clones. How embarrassing! Let's bring back the true beauty of Thai women," the sign read.

The sign also had a long list of requests for Thai women out there. (Ladies, this would be a good time to get a notepad.)

"PLEASE STOP: Coloring your hair to look like farang, getting a pointy witch nose job, changing your faces with surgery to look like farang, whitening your skin to achieve the look of blood cancer and having a skeleton-like body."

Basically, the man doesn’t want Thai women to look Caucasian. (Now write it down in your notepad.) [read more...]

Wow. So all of his life has lead up to this moment. His family must be very proud.

that is the problem with conservatives, they cannot accept things just change and evolve, they feel terrified by a world that changes fast as never before.

having a skeleton-like body

Farang women trait???

Well if the local ladies ideas don't fit with his ideals he'd be best advised to move on in my view.

Looking at his general stance, facial expressions body language etc I am inclined to think his previous occupation was as ''Safety Officer on the Belgrano.''

He looks fairly old and obviously writes Thai so there's a good chance he has citizenship.

Actually, I think the guy is Thai, not farang but has been using whitening lotion in the past.

Certain farang traits would be good to adopt, no? Don't let your man kick seven shades out of you, don't sell your body for the latest telephone or to shut mama up, try critical thinking, don't let limitations be put on you because of your sex, don't let schools educate you from a kid to slap on make up, dance around and be an object for men to leer at.

All stuff I will teach my daughter, hair, make up noses (which she has anyhow) I couldn't give a rats ar$e about!!

The full story on Coconuts had a reply that Thai women are following Korean trends (but the Koreans took the ideas from the West).

I like Thai skin tones, I like Thai noses, I like Thai elegance and I also like Thai women the way they are. The one that bugs me the most is skin whitening--oxidants applied directly to the skin in a tropical climate (in my opinion a recipe for cancer later).

But...if that's what they want? Ok. Waving a protest sign around is odiously self-important.

he probably got his quintessential, subservient and traditionally dressed servant-wife to write it as she was prostrate on the floor serving her master his bedtime cocoa

Come down to the south and disabuse yourself of that notion. My word, there are a great deal of full-figured women in Chumphon province for a start...

Maybe the girls can wave a sign back and say "Stop trying to be Thai and act farang".

It's got nothing to do with him what girls like and want to like. Why doesn't he do this in the West as well. Yes, I don't like shallow and materialistic girls, it's the sign of the ages, but holding up a sign saying you want them to be all traditional and peace loving and buying flowers for mum instead of make-up isn't going to sway the girls one bit, they will just think you are a sad moron.

How dare women do what they want like what fashion they wear and choice of hair color!!! Absolutely terrible. This guy would probably be more comfortable in a middle east country.
