Banks Closed over New Year - which days?

Featured Replies

Just tried to make a transfer by internet banking and the message came back that the transaction cannot be carried out until 5th January 2015. Does this mean the banks are closed from tonight until Monday? If so, is this only the main branches and will the sub branches in Big C and Tesco be open? Anyone have info on this?

KasiKorn has only 1 Jan as bank holiday on their website.

You can try Central Festival. The banks there are open 7 days a week. I do not know about holidays though.

Do not go before 11 am.

I have just completed a transfer on-line from Bank of Ayudhya to Siam Commercial.

It took a while to log in though. (3 attempts.)

It all depends on what banks you are transferring between . I had some personal internet transfers to make on the 4th of the month - the day before the King's Birthday. Two of them went through right away but the 3rd one gave me a notice that it couldn't be processed until the following Monday, the 8th - but I didn't make a note of what the banks were. It's happened to me several times before, just before a national holiday.

This seems to be usual over here, with the disconnected and jumbled franchise system known as 'banking ', especially if you're not transferring between two branches of the same bank.
