Fire damages over 150 years old buildings in army barrack

BANGKOK: -- A predawn fire broke out inside the Panurangsri army barrack in Ratchaburi province Wednesday gutting two old buildings to the ground. The 150 years old buildings were built during the reign of King Rama IV.

Ratchaburi Muang district police said the army barrack is within the compound of the Army Engineering Department in Muang district.

The fire happened about 1.00 am at
the wooden building and quickly spread to an adjacent concrete building.

Several fire engines were rushed to the scene and took over two hours to keep the blaze under control after the two buildings were burnt to the ground. Both structures were registered at the Fine Arts Department.

One building was used to store military uniforms, chinaware and documents, and the other kept old weapons.

Electrical short circuit at the wooden building was suspected to be the cause of fire.

You would think the army would have its own fire brigade on base. Other military installations around the world do seeing there are weapons and ammunitions stores.

Two many Christmas lights and electric heaters.

"Electrical short circuit at the wooden building was suspected to be the cause of fire."

A one-in- a- million freak accident.

LOL...... Best laugh I have had in a while... spot on!

It is sad to see heritage of this sort destroyed, just the record that it was built in King Rama IV time is history in it's self, as I said, sad to see.
