Drowning reports come from three provinces

A total of five adults and children drowned on Wednesday in three separate occasions in Takeo and Pursat provinces, authorities reported yesterday. A boat sank in Takeo’s Doun Keo district, killing two brothers, Doun Keo police chief Chhok Engly said.

The bodies of Uong Somphors, 35, and Uong Sorphorn, 30, were found floating in the water and entangled in water lilies after a village search, Engly said.

In Pursat’s Phnom Krovanh district, a man, 49, afflicted with tetanus drowned after convulsing and falling into a lake, district police chief Chet Sambath said.

Also, two children, aged 10 and 12, died after swimming too far from the shore in the same district. Villagers witnessed the drowning however they failed to rescue them in time, Sambath explained.
