Hello all,

Me and my girlfriend are due to fly out to Thailand from the UK for at least 2 months in February. I've been looking at visas and wondered what the best and cheapest thing is to do. We intend to stay in Thailand for the full duration. Also, is the visa exemption for the 30 days added onto the visa?

Thank you.

The visa exempt entry (30 days) is just that, it is a stand-alone and not added to any visa you obtain

A triple entry tourist visa would cost £75 and is the most cost-effective.

Any extension to a shorter visa is 1900 Baht which is now around £38.

If you're even thinking about staying for longer than 90 days you should get a double or triple entry visa as you will need to do visa runs and it's a lot more convenient to do this before you leave.

I should have said tourist visas that give 60 days for £25 each entry are the most cost-effective

If you are only going to stay 2 months, get a single entry tourist visa, the cost is 1000 baht. When you enter you will get 60 days permission to stay. If you want to stay longer than 60 days you can extend it for another 30 at immigration for 1900 baht.

If you come without a visa you will get 30 days on entry which can be extended for 30 more for 1900 baht. But in order to board the aircraft in your home country the airline might require you to have an onward ticket during the first 30 days. This is not required if you have a proper visa.

The single entry TV is the cheapest and easiest!

You should get at least single entry tourist visas that will you 60 days per entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office.. You can apply in person or by post at the embassy in London or in person only at one of the consulates.
