The Retroasis hotel in Bangkok is lactated at Sukhumvit soi 29. It's a nice hotel which used to be an old school given it's structure. It's close to Asoke BTS and Terminal 21 and just a short walk to the M quarter and Emporium shopping mall.

The room is OK and bed not rock hard. All the rooms are located at a small piazza which also houses the swimming pool. Because of this there is no much noise coming from sukhumvit. Pool did not look that clean and nobody was using it.

Booked via agoda for THB 1250 per night.

Dam Rong is famous for its Thai sausage. The food stall is at Warorot market in Chiang Mai. It's busy with Thai people who visit especially for it's sausages. Many Thai who visit Chaiang Mai will therefore return home with a hot sausage in their bags!!

For the ones who have a Thai partner, ask them if they heard of Dam Rong shop (ดำรงค์) or the sausage (ไส้อั่ว).

A quick view of the market and night bazaar of Udon Thani. The market is just in front of the train station and stretches out to the left and right side. Of course there is a food court so you can enjoy the local dishes immediately. There also is a large stage for bands to perform and to have a drink while enjoying the evening.

For the ones living in or near Udon the images will be recognizable.

Travel by train in Thailand can be lots of fun, especially for shorter trips and in 3rd class. De windows are open, there is no aircon and the train slowly ploughs through the Thai landscape while locals try to sell cold drinks and snacks.

This vid covers the first part of a trip from Udonthani to Khon Kaen.

Where there are tourist there are venues in the neighborhood to have a drink. In Khon Kaen there are hardly any tourist but you can still find some western orientated bars in close vicinity of the Pullman hotel. And the hotel itself has a large German beer bar in the basement. The nice thing is that they brew there own German beer in the 2 kettles just behind the bar!

In the south of Khon Kaen at the edge of the lake is a large temple situated, a bit in the shape of a pyramid. You can climb up all the way to the 9th store for a very nice view of the city and its surroundings. It cost around 40 million baht to build the temple. But this ome is quite nice with lots of gold an very nice wall paintings inside.

In a lot of taxis in Bangkok there is a laminated piece of paper hanging from the passenger seat with destinations and prices. Always handy but probably not when you notice it. And back home when you want to find out what the fare would be to a certain destination you can't remember the prices. Well just check out this vid

Today the second leg of my train trip from Udon Thani to Korat. Leaving Khon Kaen at around 08.15 with a 15 minute delay we make it to Korat in about 4 hours. It's an old train with only third class and stops at each station along the way. The train originates at Udon Thani and is about half full when it arrives in Khon Kaen but quickly fills up before leaving. Along the way there are great views of the rice paddy's. Arriving in Korat the train empties, it's not the final destination for the train but it is for most of the passengers.

If you take the bus from Korat or arrive in Korat by bus this will most of the time be at Terminal 2. It's the "new" large bus station of Korat which serves most destinations. It's close to Big C and has a restaurant and small convenience shop so you can supply yourself with snacks and drinks for the bus trip. A taxi from the centre to the bus station is about 150 bht, a tuktuk wil cost about 100 bht.

The apartment complex 2 3 mansion is a 5 minute walk to Asoke MRT. The apartment consists of a large living room and bedroom with separate bathroom with shower and bath. Small kitchen with microwave is tucked away in the living room. The furniture in the room is a bit old but the view from the balcony is great. I paid around 1500 bht for the room which is a bit on the high end but you mainly pay for location.

Typical Thai entertainment. On a small piece of bare ground a few stalls are placed, like a mini fair. You can throw darts at balloons for a few baht and go home with a lovely teddy bear. Also catching fish with a small spoon made of rice paper together with a small cup to keep your fish. As soon as the rice paper hits the water it will disintegrate and become useless so you can only dip once. 5 baht per shot, the Thai love it!

One of the biggest fresh markets of Bangkok is Khlong Toei. It's located between Asoke and Silom and easily accessible by MRT. You can spend hours walking around and watch all the activity. It's also nice that not that much tourist visit the place, gives it a bit more of an authentic feeling.
