Hi everyone,

which months is it holidays in Thailand for normal government schools?

When do english teachers generally take holidays considering also the other types of schools?

Cheers

Thai government schools usually close their doors at the end of March. Grade six, nine and twelve students write their tests a little earlier.

The final examinations for all are over around the 15th of March, but teachers are usually finalizing their grades and some might only have to sign in and out for the last days of March.

The so called holiday is usually from 1st of April ( no April fool's joke) until a day somewhere in middle of May.

But on the other hand, schools want their teachers to come back a few days earlier, before any students show up, to prepare the lesson plans for the next five years, or so.

That's exactly what most of us are waiting for.( The summer break)

It's really sad for those who're working for an agency, when their contract ends and they receive nil for about 6 weeks. Plus visa and work permit issues.

Government schools close from about 10 March until about 15 May. It depends on the school whether foreign teachers are given holiday for the whole period.

Thank you guys for your replies.

April then is the right month if you want to go back home visiting family etc.

How does it work for the Visa? Let's say I'm teaching in Thailand on a non-immigrant B and work permit, then in April I buy a return ticket to Europe. Am I allowed to re-enter LOS with no problems?

Then you'll have to apply for a Re -entry visa, which you can also obtain at the airport, or at any Immigration nationwide.

1,000 baht and you're good to go.When you've worked at a school and holding a work permit, please make sure that you cleared your taxes.

I remember that they sent a guy back to Sisaket from the old Don Muang airport, to get this done. Of course did the plane leave without her.

Good trip. wai2.gif
