Tak border trade fair to kick off Jan 28

TAK, 17 Jan 2015 (NNT) – Tak province will late this month hold 'Tak Border Trade Fair 2015' to offer both Thai and Burmese business operators an opportunity to meet and talk about future trade partnership.

The event will comprise two important trade activities. The first one is the business matching talks between Thai and Burmese operators, which will cover six areas of business including handicraft, tourism and agriculture.

The latter is a fair which boasts more than 300 booths featuring best-known products from Thailand and Myanmar. Aside from the business activities, visitors will be treated to free concerts performed by popular artists.

The organizers comprising the Ministry of Commerce, Tak Chamber of Commerce, and Mae Sot Municipality expect the fair to pave the way for future trade expansion between the two countries.

Mae Sot district has been in the government’s spotlight due to its continued economic expansion. According to the Tak provincial governor, the border trade in this area grows by 20 percent each year on average. This has prompted the government to promote the border district into a special economic zone in preparation for the expansion of West Economic Corridors and the emergence of ASEAN Economic Community.

The "Border Trade Fair 2015" will be held at Mae Sot municipality Stadium between January 28 and February 1, 2015
