Interesting post. It certainly makes good sense to encourage men looking for a Thai wife to look outside the bars. It is risky, though, to generalize about Thai wives looking to their husbands to be the leader in the marriage. While that may be true in many instances, my own observations after only a couple years living up-country were very different. Observing Thai-Thai marriages and domestic life, it seemed to me that, at home, the women held the domestic purse strings, dominated where children were concerned, and generally ruled the roost. In public, Thai wives deferred to their husbands, allowing them to play the 'leader' role, but at home it was a different story. Truth be told, there is probably just as much variation in this area among Thai women as among women of any other society.

Have been happily married to a "good" Thai woman for almost 24 years now.

Lived both here and in the states.

My only advice:

Ignore Neversure's comment about going to the wrong bars.

There are no good bars to meet good Thai women.

Good Thai women do not go to bars.

Get away from the tourist trash and meet real Thai people and real Thai women.

When you look in the garbage can, do you really expect to find anything but garbage?

More like discovered it within the past month and just realized there's more to Thailand than bar girls, then decided to share his revelation.

Also, the guys who saw key words "good Thai lady" then clearly proceeded to NOT read every word before claiming to agree with every word!

I would say that is an accurate statement and is consistent with my thoughts/feelings.

Yes, Well I see some fairly ordinary looking big nosed, pasty white faced pot bellied loser Farang getting around like they're gods gift to Thailand. And they're as ugly as they come, some even damn right freaky.
