Second hand book shops in Surin

Featured Replies

Are there any second hand bookshops in Surin/Buriram/Prasat? English language books, thrillers, sci fi, horror, that sort of thing. Buy and return.

I have about 115 paper back books,I will give to you for free if you want them

action,sci fi and more

all like new only read twice

That's weird, so they do have second hand bookstores etc. As I've never seen one, and had been under the impression, based on something I read ages ago but which my wife confirmed, that selling second hand books etc was illegal in Thailand, as apparently they believe it breaches the copyright or something.

Although the context might have been a little different, I'm not sure, as I can only vaguely remember the conversation (Primarily because I thought it sounded really weird, and I was pretty dubious about whether this was actually the case or not).

If you get to Chiang Mai check out https://www.facebook.com/GeckoBooksChiangMai

Not too far from the cities mentioned is Frank"s Livin" in the Past.Sisaket. He also has 100+ English books that he wants to get rid off.

He has a FB page of that name if you want to make contact.

For real secondhand bookshops you have to go to the big cities where there is a large enough farang population (+ tourists) to keep them going.

In Chiangmai, the main ones are Gecko and Backstreet (next door to each other) and their branches. I used to make a trip there every six months, and stock up, but now I depend largely on Kindle.

In Bangkok, probably the best is Dasa (which I found cheaper than Chiangmai). But there you also have Kunokiniya and Asiabooks.... if you're prepared to spend a little more.

All three have websites, and Gecko at least will mail books to you.
