PHUKET: -- A 15-year-old was one of two people arrested in Phuket Town yesterday (January 18) after being found in possession of a total of 250 pills of the prescription drug alprazolam, the drug marketed as Xanax to treat anxiety and other disorders brought on by cancer treatment.

When abused, Xanax can induce a high that can be enhanced by alcohol. Regular use can bring on addiction, with mood swings, compulsive behaviour and aggression.

Thanin Kumbaan, 22, from Koh Kaew, was arrested in front of the 7-Eleven store in Soi Kingkaew with 150 pills and the 15-year-old, from Phang Nga, was caught near Phuket Wittayalai School with another 100 pills. For legal reasons the boy may not be named.

Both were charged with possession of restricted medicines without a permit.

Meanwhile today (January 19) Kathu Police arrested three men after searching their rooms and finding 2.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine. Worawut Islam, 34, Sarawut Tongpan, 36, and Suwit Susoa, 29, face a charge of possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell.

Wow, Thailand must have near rid its scourge of illegal narcotics if this is the pinnacle of drugs offences in the Kingdom. + 3 people caught with 2 grams of ice between them WITH intent to sell... I remember a story in the Bible similar to this about feeding 5,000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish.

You really need to read a bit more and keep up to date with the press reports if you think this is the pinnnacle.

The trouble is, the guys trying to catch the guys at the "pinnacle" of drug dealing, are actually at the pinnacle themselves. biggrin.png

Obviously trying to make ab example.

At rambuttei u find hige signs saying Valium (diazepam, quite similar to aplrazolam/xanax for those who not know. Benzo as benzo. Like the difference between beer and wine..)

Go to Surawong and u wil gind pharmacies with signs like "here u can buy some medivine wiithout prescription (a way to say "we have valium, xanax and coldalgine/tylenol 3...".

Surawong is owned by maffia. So nothing will change there.

Its all about showing their "hard work" while they still make generics in the country.. comolete bs... unlucky guy might have had a tad too mucj though....
