Hi everyone, what a relief I have found this forum. Now I feel like "I am not alone"

Could someone please give me some feedback on the interview process.

My wife and I are in the process of applying for a SV. On the 25th August she has her interview at the embassy and the only thing extra they have asked for is more financial details about me, example property deads, bank statements etc. I am somewhat perplexed about this request as I submitted a detailed financial report but they still require more? Do they expect me to mail my property deeds to Thailand so my wife can take them to the interview? I feel this is a very unusual request.

I was allways under the impression that both husband and wife need to be interviewed but so far they have only requested my wife. Will they interview me here in Oz? do I need to be at the interview with my wife in Bkk? Can someone please clarify this interview process for me?

I also have a son that now has his Oz citizenship by decent. I only hope our SV application goes as smooth as my son's citizenship. That only took 2 weeks and about 2000 bht.

Thaks in advance to anyone who can advise me

A self prepared financial report would be insufficient...they want to see proof of your financial situation. If they ask you for additional information and /or documents...then do as they ask if you want the application to succeed....Remember they dont want original documents...only send them certified copies unless they ask to see the originals.

As your missus is the applicant they will only need to interview her....if they require any information from you then you may called into Immigration here to attend an interview...Do not miss this interview or be late

Thanks for the feedback,

My wife and I only just submitted the SV application 3 weeks ago. I gave them all my bank statements for the last 2 years. They have asked for more bank statements and all I can give them is this months (August) but that will not be available untill next month. They have everything before this month.

So you say "a self prepared financial report" is insufficient? so is the next lot of financial evidence also insufficient? is everything self prepared insufficient? Gees I'm worried about all this. I was very carefull to not my I's and cross my t's but this financial side of things has got me worried. I am self employed and that creates a whole new problem.

Cheers mate

You mentioned property deeds, bank statements etc....

This indicates that they are looking for more of anything....this could include your tax returns, payslips if you make one out to yourself every week, proof of property owned, any rental incomes etc....anything that shows your financial position.

when you send them tell them that you have already submitted all the available bank statements that you have.

If you have queries about what may be needed, give the Immigration here a ring and ask them what may be required

Thanks again mate, I really appreciate your help

Yeah thats a good idea, I will call in and see imigration in town on Monday, the office in Sydney is not far from my work.

You know...In the application I gave them everything I could think of financially, there really isn't anything more I can give them. I am worried they looked at the wifes application and they have asessed me to be finacially unworthy :o

Her interview is next friday, I sent her a printout of this months statements and my income protection insurance, other than that I'm done.

Are they really that tough about money?

Cheers

They are pretty tough on the finance area....maybe because you are self employed they want to know more...

What they want to know is that you can support her for 2 years minimum...so that she doesnt become destitute and a drain on the public purse. They can also use your financial details to background check you. However even if they think that there maybe a problem then they can ask you to submit an Assurance of Support which means that you and others can guarantee her sponsorship for 2 years.

Can I ask what you mean by background check? Do you mean my credit rating? Tax liabilities?

Thanx again

I read your other post and agree with the response given there. I meant more towards a character check.

Didnt mean to scare you.... :o

Yep u did scare me :D and thanks again for your help I feel a little more hopefull now. I think all will be ok I juz got way behind in my tax and they gave me 12 months to pay it off, I didn't include these moneys in my liabilities for obvious reasons.

Cheers dude
