I'm sure some of you won't agree but i really feel this summer is the time to make Bentaleb club captain.

Makes to odd mistake sure but generally he's been outstanding and his attitude, mentality is spot on for the job. i don't think his age (20yo) should be a factor either and It also sits well with a side that will be even younger in premier league terms with Onomah Pritchard and Winks all likely to feature greatly next season.

Youngest team in the league has the youngest captain and hopefully we can rely on a couple of experienced players to show just that. Vertonghen in particular needs to play his part here.

My man love for Bentaleb increases every week ! the sign of a very good player is someone who can be played out of position and still look comfortable and he certainly did that on Sunday.

It looks like everything is so easy for him and if he played with a def mid player i think he can become our Viera, can't really see anyone else as captain material (unless we buy a real experienced player) so perhaps give him a go although probaly a bit early for him.

Carms, now we apparently have Wimmer does that mean we are also going to buy an experienced centre half as well ? Moreno for example !

I hope so Alfredo as defensively we were woeful this season.

As to who should be captain.....its really not an easy one is it?

20 is too young in my opinion....let's see what Poch thinks!

Don't think age is the issue. Issue is attitude and he has the right attitude and is guaranteed to play. When heads go down he gets stuck in.

Lot of talk and speculation about Hugo leaving....but to go where?

He's good enough for any team....of that I have no doubt but who has an opening....a big wad of cash to offer us and would be attractive to Hugo?

Can't see Madrid, Barca or Bayern this summer with De Gea a shoe in at the comedy club and no way we would sell to Man Yoo for any other than silly money.

Paris St G looks a decent bet if United understandably decide to stick with Valdes if De Gea goes.

Just can't see us keeping Lloris.

I doubt he'd want to go back to the French league....but you never know!

arguably the biggest club in his home country with one of the largest budgets in the world challenging and capable.of winning all domestic trophies and in the not to distant future probably capable of winning the champions league,,hard to see why hugo wouldnt be interested in returning,, saying that the french league doesnt have the week in week out buzz that the

prem has, which is, probably, our saving grace that and the bloody long contract I believ levy got him to sign, meaning if they want him they , imo, will probably have to bust the world goalkeeping transfer record,, GET IN THERE DANIEL!!!!!

Yes very good and he has nailed it. Enough plus points last season to be happy and positive that we can kick on next season.

It would also be nice seeing the Northumberland Park Project start moving with some pace!

Yes sort out the defensive shambles and replace the wandering African and his Spanish gnome like replacement with one striker and we should be good to go for next season.

Purely by the fact that Kane,Mason and Bentaleb are now probably worth upwards of 50m makes it a good season !

I'm happy to see the next group of youngsters knocking at the door for next season too. Just a shame Carter-Vickers still probably at least another year away from the first team.

I see next season as a new dawn. New stadium fully underway, hopefully turfed out the old era squad members with the mangers choice replacing them. A nucleus of our own players, Bentaleb, Mason, Kane, Winks, Onomah, Pritchard, Couple of fresh signings and certain individuals to play as we know thy can and others to maintain their progression on last season. Vertonghen, Eriksen and Rose would fall into those two brackets.

One thing that i hope and expect to see is the hardening of our resolve when games get tough and i expect these homegrown youngsters to show just that.

All in all i see the positives of last season and am looking forward to next august.

He's right is why....sort the defence and bring in a striker who scores a few goals as we need to be killing games rather than winning by the odd goal against a lot of sides.

The goal difference end of season was bad at both ends.

yep we desperately need a 'scary' hungry attacker to compliment ari, someone who if on the bench will come on, and defenders after getting a battering from our mid's will go 'oh no what the f----- !!!!!. ' Going forward we aint far short, dembele ericson pamella and theirs more, it's just the pen box predator,as smokey said 'the killer instinct to finish games, to work off or after ari we seem to lack, soldado is such a f--cin shame cos on paper he's perfect, Spanish international loads of goals in Spanish footie, but seems it just aint gonna be,,, i know i keep going on bout him but Berehino totally fits the bill ,lets not go with the untried foreign gamble we've seen the results we know there;s alway a bedding in period and no garuntee. so fuc the agent, levy's no doubt worked with worse. no doubts 25 should buy him and it'll be a challenging step up for him and he's already proved he can score for fun in the prem, everything is right about him, age touch, pace, hunger, finisher ect ect he's a class act and IMO will step up a level the quality of our front line

I think I bought a kebab from him after a pi$$ up in Cambridge last month - dead ringer.

I hear Adie baddie is on compassionate leave - compassion in this instance was being shown to everyone else at the club.

Can you imagine our season if fan pressure, as i believe it was, finally made Pochettino play Kane in a league game last november?

However, on another note, i will say it once more and no doubt it will fall on deaf ears but; we only paid 13m for Soldado. The other half where add ons which comes as no surprise have not needed to be forthcoming. This constitutes excellent negotiation by Levy or us being fortuitous as he was such a flop.

Its the wages that hurting. Those two combined trouser 220k p/w

So how much do you reckon you'll have to write off in total then, from all the detritus you picked up using the Bale money?

biggrin.png

Not as much as you probably think Chics, iv'e got us down for 20m in the red from a valuation of today !!! about the same as Ozil has depreciated whistling.gif

i like and rate Berahaino but i hear he has a touch of the Adebayor's about him. The bad side that is. No doubt that vile agent has something to do with it.

carmine players always will and always have moved on to bigger clubs agents get players new and

better deals so clubs dislike and often ' encourage ' the 'fans' to.

he's 23 bit early to be judging him and This 'vile agent' i''ve never read or seen a full interview , have you? what i've read that actually he's having a positive influence on young players lifestyle encouraging them to eat well behave well and generally improve their ways. all the fuss bout sterling it's as much liverpool not wanting to lose him and part looking for someone else to blame ie not our fault were losing a 2 nd world stage player, nothing to do with not taking a chance.and offering him a new deal early or not qualifying for the c l,

And lets not forget the beloved media looking/needing a story to fill the comics pages for the gullible and 'vulnerably' indignant to rant and rave over. anyway my rant over :P

You seem to forget that the agent actually works for the player and if the player isn't happy with the way the agent works then i'm sure he'll get rid of him !

Can't we finish talking about how much Ozils value has depreciated before we move on to another subject biggrin.png

Only if you promise to start barking on again about us paying 26m for Soldado!

Really not sure at all about this Kevin Wimmer signing. I keep hearing that Pochettino wants a blend of experience to match the youth. So we have atlas two teenagers and a twenty-two year old coming into the squad. We have a defense that is piss poor. Of this we are all agreed.

So where does a youthful kid in his early twenties, a relatively inexperienced left footed center back who is weak in the air fall into our equation? This one is lost on me.

I see us losing experienced player and i see Onomah 18yo, Winks 19yo, Pritchrd 22yo all coming in we sign a new kid on the block to our leaky inept defense.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me as i'm lost on it?

Lets share some more observations. I think we can all agree that Chiriches is not at the standard required to even play in the league and he'll be gone very soon.

But does Fazio inspire much confidence? Not for me. Granted he's strong in the air but his mobility is limited and he, like Walker is persistently getting caught out of possession.

Vertonghen is the deal but mentally he's weak and a sulker who tends to just switch off.

I'm left thinking the only players in out back five i'm happy with are Rose Dier and Lloris who might well be off to PSG.

Well it looks like he's only going a squad player / one for the future so yes we still need an experienced centre back !
